Must read in the morning star

I would like to commend reporter Roger Knox of the Vernon Morning star and Mr. Larry Fisher for a refreshing and honest article and interview in todays paper.
If you have not read it you should as it gives a great perspective on what business faces regarding the homeless and what a hard working business man thinks of how the city uses it money and how much it respects their ideas. Why you ask well it is all in regards to the invitation only special meeting with a paid mediator regarding the homeless situation and how nothing was resolved or decided.
Larry run for office and you have my vote.
Now maybe more of the general public and business people will email and write the mayor and council and get them listen instead of telling us what is wrong and how to fix it.

Lots of signs lately that the bleeding hearts are losing their shininess in society. About time IMO.

I wish there was a more objective voice out there. It seems there are only two sides being presented in this 'battle' -- Social Service Agencies and aggrieved business and community members. There is a silence out there where some from the Social Services side and some who have lived or who are living on the streets who will not talk speak publicly about their concerns or issues because Vernon is a small town and either jobs are on the line or access to meals, beds and/or other services will be put in jeopardy.

Still no answers about just what the root cause of the problem is. Just name calling ("bleeding hearts") and support for Larry Fisher (who has a right to be upset about his business' plight) and lot of "hooray for our side". Lots of NIMBY. But never an answer about the cause and a solution.

It must be horrendous to be at Larry's "Ground Zero".

Why can't the homeless (incl Upper Room Mission) be housed in any of the myriad unused buildings at the Army Camp?

theres three forces of evil that has caused the mess we are in

1) bleeding heart liberals whom think theres a treatment
2) failing to nip this situation in its infancy in Vernon
3) catering to the SB involved every day


its like if u feed birds and or rodents or bears or whatever they will never leave
