I think that's a yellow garden spider. It's native to southern canada.

It is so cute,
Can I get a dozen of them to guard my front door.
Since the political parties are gearing up for an election it may keep some canvassers from my doorstep

I have one too, big as a mouse! She weaves her webs throughout my deck railing. It's like going through cotton candy.

I clean up behind her, but she persists.

No harm done.

She definitely is an orb weaver, specifically arigope aurantia, one of the few arigope genus we get in Canada. Completely harmless to us humans, but will keep all the pesky flies, mosquitos, and wasps at bay! Quite a pretty lady! :D

that means she must have a Mister! There is a giant Charlotte lives in the rocks by the A/C... we have a pact not to cross paths nor enter the house proper. But she is harmless ( I hope)
I always think of John Goodman in Arachnophobia, that GIANT spider that came through the doggy door was real, they had a spider wrangler on set

You really have to be careful around those Australian spiders, they can cause painful damages.
