yes Grossly overpaid when u look at my comparison some ff who sits on his *bleep* 6 of 8 hours and gets 140K per year
when I know many workers that are high skilled and work 8 -10 hard hours ever day and make like 65K and they thrive quit well
a FF (all) are grossly over paid

I wondered why the chief felt the need to have a camera in his office. He says he was worried about people looking in his filing cabinet, but don't those lock? Doesn't his office door lock? And shouldn't you trust your employees enough not to go through your stuff? I can't help but wonder if he knew something was going on and planted the camera and left his door unlocked.

You're not suggesting that the amorous couple were unjustly terminated, are you? Filing cabinet drawers are easy to pick and yes, you should be able to trust your employees but obviously, geiven the breach, he couldn't.

you can video tape staff but they must be aware of it and you must have good reason so it is defensible in court. You cannot randomly tape and you can't do it secretly.

Not in all cases. This office is private and he submitted that he had reason to install the camera. If it turns out that he made any of the story up, different scenario. In this case, assuming he is telling the truth about the breaches, it isn't random and it had purpose.

I love how people jump to conclusions on a media release. Does it say what they were doing? Do you know the entire story? Wow lets hang them by their toes. Don't be so quick to judge.... Is Lind perfect?? Where did the last chief go and why? What really is happening in Vernon besides this story...If people want to judge they should get all facts.... Just my thoughts....

And I say big deal that they had sex. They obviously thought there were alone. They're two consenting adults. To get fired over one of the most natural human behaviors is stupid and for everybody to make them out as the worst criminals with no shame is quite judgy. The people that are passing judgment on these two people had not been affected in any way by their behavior yep there condemnation seems to be hugely overboard. I am no longer able to hold my tongue on the matter of the sad situation at the Vernon Fire Department.

As a taxpayer and citizen of Vernon, I am appalled at the current situation where the firefighters union has gone to such lengths to protect two individuals who have such poor sense of right and wrong that they believe they are not subject to termination for exercising their carnal desires in the fire chief's office.

Unions have a place in ensuring that their members are represented to management in a fair manner. This debacle is fair to no one, least of all the fine members of the fire department, City of Vernon management and the citizenry of Vernon.

To back these individuals to the degree that the union has is simply bad judgment and, in my my mind, inexcusable.

Unions must have good judgment as to when to throw in the towel for the greater good of their membership.
