So typical of the bureaucracy-heavy crap these days.
A freaking permit for a 3 week plastic festive display that is adored by little kids?

And the former mayor's comments are really disturbing...that the owners shouldn't have gone to social media to complain, stating that they themselves misinformed people. The fact of the matter is RED TAPE and ridiculous costs. But that's over his head obviously.

Businesses are closing left and right in this town, many because of unresolved criminal activities.
But, oh no, a former mayor--who did bugger all during his term--is *bleep* about a plastic display needing an expensive (to the owner) permit.

Council sure works hard to gouge every penny from the populace to cover the wages and unfunded liability DB pension plan costs of highly-paid bureaucrats, of whom there are way too many.

An annual permit that will only be utilized for a few weeks per year. The city could give out the permit at a prorated cost.

The City waived the permit for this year. I wouldn't be surprised if the City works with the owners for next year if the owners request a variance.
