2020 Play by Play Mill Creek Flood Forum

Post by oldtrucker »

I, oldtrucker will once again be putting my life on the line in a act of really manly bravery to bring you the minute by minute, play by play action at the Ellison area 2020 Mill Creek flood.
I may meet my end as the snow pack is much deeper than last year, it could still dump snow, it could pour rain at the wrong time, and I could be finally silenced by Mill Creek's swift, icy waters,... but I will do my best -as always, to keep you in 'the know'.
Will oldtrucker finally have a meltdown fighting flood waters and imagine he made a flood preventing deal with the local beavers to dam Mill Creek after smoking too much cannabis?
It will be action packed, nail biting and incredibly dangerous...
Stay informed.
Stay tuned...

may the generalised version of god support you on your quest!

I know with your rock hard abs and manly chest hair you are the only person who can take on this quest.

Its time we put your name in the hat for knighting by the Queen. But I fear you would turn it down, because you would want it to be by Mill Creek, and instead of a sword, you would want to cheers a beer as knighted.

Slow and steady Spring runoff all will be just fine.

Gord...You have no idea how much I hope slow and steady actually plays out.
Last year was a breeze, but 2017-18 were borderline oldtrucker was nearly homeless disasters.

The thing that sent everything out of control was that massive cloud burst at head waters of Mill Creek.

Yes.. But, when this creek decides to become so powerful that it's tearing the pavement up... Sand bagging etc can only go so far when Earth decides to do its thing .All I can do is get to high ground and report on what's coming to town. It's actually a impressive community effort around Ellison area with all of the neighbours helping each other with sand bagging etc...

2017-18 was the worst tear since 1951. Many improvements have been made since 1951.

I remember the morning after that rain.
My neighbour called me at 6 am and told me to look out the window.
I had a houseboat.

I'll check with my neighbor next time I see him. His job is snowmobilin' and measuring snow pack. I'll see what he has to say this year.

2020--04-25 @11:37 hrs

Slowly coming up. The rain in the last few days has brought the creek level up at my usual measuring point to about a foot from road level. So, far so good but there is still a lot of snow to melt out yet.
