Re: 14 Reasons Why Vernon Sucks
Friends tell me Vernon's gas is 107.9/L today. So nope, Vernon rocks.
Regardless of who "wins" an election, they always are up against a Silent Elite. Do you believe the extreme poor who voted for Trump ever thought their non-profit support would be slashed right out from under them?

'When I tell my friends that the average daily max temperature in Dec and Jan in Lethbridge is 0.6 and 0.1C versus -1.6 and -0.9 in Vernon people are so absolutely shocked that they almost suffer a coronary.'
Almost had a coronary? I wouldn't tell them that the summer temperature was 3 degree F hotter in Vernon; you never know with folks that almost have a corornary about about a picayune difference in winter temps.
I grew up in Alberta. Did you also tell them about the snow, and the thunderstorms, and the hail, and the wind, and the blizzards, and and and…?
I've lived in communities of six of the Canadian Provinces and Vernon isn't any better or worse than any other.

Snow? You do realize that Vernon gets more snow than Lethbridge, right?Schooner69 wrote:'When I tell my friends that the average daily max temperature in Dec and Jan in Lethbridge is 0.6 and 0.1C versus -1.6 and -0.9 in Vernon people are so absolutely shocked that they almost suffer a coronary.'

Thunderstorms? Correct, more in Alberta, which is an awesome thing!
Hail? Yes, we need more of that too!
Wind? Okay, I'll give you that one.
Blizzards? I love a good blizzard.
Summers are way too hot in Vernon and the same goes for Lethbridge.

When I was a younger thinner man years ago I worked at Canadian Forces Base Suffield Southern Alberta.
I would get out of the wind by lying in the depressions left from tank tracks.
It was when they were just starting to use drones and smaller flying camera equipped rovs.
A lot of fun trying to hide from the operators when they knew I was out there.
You were told not to venture to far off known tracks due to unexploded shells, but I did not care to much then.

If you think that Vernon sucks, it's probably the life that you've made for yourself that sucks. Why did I move here? Because I had a great job offer here (that lasted nearly 40 years) and met a hot woman from here (and we're still together). I wouldn't go anywhere else. It's not because Vernon sucks or doesn't suck, it's because my life doesn't suck. It's not the location, it's locater.

Probably because the chinook winds skew the average temperature for Lethbridge. Outside the chinook events it would usually be much colder than in Vernon. And yes, Vernon gets more snow.Schooner69 wrote:'When I tell my friends that the average daily max temperature in Dec and Jan in Lethbridge is 0.6 and 0.1C versus -1.6 and -0.9 in Vernon people are so absolutely shocked that they almost suffer a coronary.'
Anyways, I don't think Vernon sucks at all. IMO, Vernon is a much better city than Kelowna or Penticton. The North Okanagan in general is better.
Don't Vancouver our Kelowna!

Vernon used to be great until about the time they decided a methadone clinic was just what the city needed. Now outsiders jokingly refer to it as Vermin.
