What water do you use in your coffee

Post by stuphoto »

In the quest for the perfect cup of coffee I thought I would run these questions past everyone here.
Not just coffee snobs, I am curious about everyone's opinion.

Do you use Tap, Filtered, or Bottled water in your coffee?

Have you tried anything else, and can you taste the difference?

From the fridge, straight from the tap or room temperature?

If you use filtered water is there any model of filter you prefer?
How about brand for the bottled water users?

Do you add any salt or anything to enhance the flavor?

I'll start.
Having just moved into my place, I have no water filter yet.
So I am using refrigerated Nanton Spring bottled water.
Over the last month I have pretty much nailed my perfect grind and can make a very pleasant cup of coffee.
Yesterday I had a brain fart, and used straight Castlegar Tap water it tasted very acidic, and I couldn't figure out why until this morning.
Ideally I want to install a good quality water filter, or reverse osmosis system.

It would be nice knowing what works well.

Plus on a related note.
If you are running late, is there a goto gas station you have.
I used to be okay with 7/11 coffee, but it seems to have gone downhill.
I personally feel it's just the water they use :135:

If I'm using the Bodum, tap water. If I'm using the Keurig, distilled.
I haven't failed until I quit.

I use tap water, being where I am, it gets lifted straight
from the lake with only sediment filtration.

Sometimes during run off, I'll boil it first and leave sit overnight.

Sidenote; I also don't take water with me when out on the lake,
I just dip my cup in and drink freely.

I’m on my own questionable water source. I use it only for washing. I buy 18L jugs of bottled water for everything else. Always at room temperature. The coffee tastes great, as does the tea. For tea I drink Orange Pekoe. The tea is actually slightly orange In colour whereas when I have Orange Pekoe made with chlorinated tap water, the tea has no Orange hue to it. So it makes a difference.

Use tap water that's seems to be always on a water advisory. Coffee tastes good anyway.

I only use milk.

Step 1: Heat up raw milk from dairy farm that was about to dump it on the ground.
Step 2: Add instant coffee.
Step 3: Beat the [censored] out of it with a blending device so that it's nice and frothy. Wife likes to use this, but I use this because I'm not gay (not that there's anything wrong with that, but I'm not so I do it the male heterosexual way).
Step 4: Pour into a cup, and sprinkle cinnamon on top.
Step 5: Laugh at all the poor souls out there who can't figure out what type of water to use.

I will have to try milk with instant coffee.
As for Raw milk, it's a little tough for most people to obtain. Please don't share your source [icon_lol2.gif]
Plus it would probably send most people here to the washroom pretty quickly.

We have a carbon filter on the kitchen cold water line and also a filter in the Keurig coffee maker.

We never buy coffee at any gas station and have stopped buying at Tim Hortons as well.

I grew up on milk out of the bulk tank.
