Property owners are responsible for their own deployment. Be happy that the city is supplying the bags and sand.

If you are asking if anyone needs help- thanks! So far we are good.
I think that most are already prepared the best they can be if they have lived on this river for any length of time. They would already know what it can do and most are shell shocked from previous years.
@ 1105hrs it's come down by about 3 inches.

Just you guys remember who brought you the story first- in a act of incredible testosterone driven manly bravery.

I had a river right beside my house in bumsville sask- about 70 feet to the river valley. It would be down to a swamp and not running during some dry years at the end of summer. But...in the spring, it would swell to over 500ft across- almost the size of the North Saskatchewan in some places. The ice that was on the river bottom would peel away from the ground and dam things up-the water would build up until it had so much force the ice would grind along at a couple inches per second and not slow down at all when it hit a seemingly immovable object like a big tree. Tree would slowly be broken at ground level or be ripped out of the ground roots and all. A big boulder that was bus sized and probably weighed 50 tons wouldn't slow the ice down one bit. It's amazing to watch...makes a person feel really weak and small.

How could anyone predict a blockage?
UPDATE 11:50 a.m.
City of Kelowna director of infrastructure Alan Newcombe tells Castanet the flooding along Mill Creek last night was caused by a pulse of debris being washed down the creek by heavy rain.

Don't know. I think my papers with the insurance policy got washed downstream 10 years ago.
2020-5-07 @ 1403hrs...
Water level down by at least 5 inches in the last few hours.
Still pouring over Bulman rd and the golf course is flooded out at the entrance where Scotty Creek and Mill Creek meet. It was still running over the road about 200m south of the s curve bridge on Bulman.

Insurance is only good for property "damage".

Re: 2020 Play by Play Mill Creek Flood Forum
The flood is basically over. It was pretty intense for a few hours, but nothing like 2017. Lots of last minute sandbagging, but the water was starting to seep up through the ground anyways. No rain in the forecast at all this week, and most of the snowpack that feeds Mill Creek (Postill Lake area) has melted. The highest elevation in the watershed might be 1500 meters, but most of the upland is closer to 1300-1400m. Mission Creek is a different story, because of the much higher elevations in its watershed. Parts of the Greystokes are almost 2200 meters elevation, the melt has just begun up there.

Any cloud bursts, move away from the head water of Mill Creek.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests. I am an old cantankerousness grump that happens to be very opinionated.

Federal government will supply a $22 MILLION grant towards flood mitigation in Kelowna. Well, any bets that money will be worth a lot less by the time this city conducts their usual "studies". City Infrastructure Director Alan Newcombe states "not designed for a quick fix"........"early planning stages (probably NOT started yet) and looking at 6 to 8 years". I hold little faith that the brain-trust in Kelowna will fix the flooding problem and will more than likely squander the $22 MILLION on "paint".

Thunderstorms with downpours projected over the next 48 hours. High risk of seasonal runoff flooding this week.
