You can see two ejection seats in the videos.ferri wrote:I read that eyewitnesses saw two people eject. (I don't know where I read it though.)

Re: Snowbirds
Yeah, looks like the guy was trying to gain altitude before ejecting. And it appears there were two ejections.
Btw, that CBC has no class. I posted this quite awhile ago and it was booted off:
Two people bailed out. Barely on time. They were pretty close to the ground.
There's a video on Twitter, or try Casatnet.net
Gawd I hate those guys.

Okay, I read it on Castanet: "Before the plane hits the ground you're able to see two occupants eject from the plane."

Re: Snowbirds/Snowbird crash
I'd assume the second seat was occupied by another team member.

Apparently there was a pilot and a technician onboard.ferri wrote:Okay, I read it on Castanet: "Before the plane hits the ground you're able to see two occupants eject from the plane."

Re: Snowbirds/Snowbird crash
One would be the pilot and the other the engineer. Unfortunately at that altitude and the direction of the ejection it is very likely a serious injury or death would result. The one occupant was going very very fast towards the ground.
Very sad day.

Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

Re: Snowbirds/Snowbird crash
here's the link..yes sadly the female pilot passed away..
https://www.kamloopsthisweek.com/news/w ... 1.24136744
A witness told KTW a second person, a female, appeared to have succumbed to her injuries.
Hings and her daughter rushed to the backyard of the home and found a person who appeared to be deceased.
“I saw a deceased female with catastrophic injuries,” Hings said. “It looked like she hit a tree. It’s insane. It’s not supposed to happen. This [the Snowbirds tour] is supposed to be a good thing and she died.”

Watching CBC and they had an aviation expert who has worked on the planes watching the video and he said it looks like the plane had engine failure, when that happens they usually barrel roll and the pilot has no control at all.

This is just an expensive and potentially deadly PR machine for the government. Maybe it is time to end the Snowbirds program.
Hope to hear everyone lived and is gonna be ok.

Re: Snowbirds/Snowbird crash
The aircraft should/would still have control surface control if an engine flamed out, hence the upward pitch and turn to get back to the airfield. Assuming, thats what happened. Usually, if you loose power right after take off, a turn back to the airport is a dangerous maneuver because of the lack of altitude, finding a place to put the aircraft down ahead of you is usually the best option but each situation is different, and unless you were in the cockpit, speculation is speculation.madadam wrote:Watching CBC and they had an aviation expert who has worked on the planes watching the video and he said it looks like the plane had engine failure, when that happens they usually barrel roll and the pilot has no control at all.
Actually, it is a program that uplifts the spirits of millions of people around Canada and the World providing them with inspiration and a few moments of happiness and positivity in their lives.Coonhound wrote:This is just an expensive and potentially deadly PR machine for the government.
