Closed the door in the F350 crew and the rear window blew out both sides of the slider. Glass is in the box, not the cab.
Take it into Skaha Ford and they took pictures for warranty. Warranty denied. Ford Canada when I phoned said the same.
Looking at GMC now if Ford does not stand by their products. If anything else goes wrong, the 6.7 and related running gear is frightfully expensive to fix. Not going to take a chance with Ford's warranty being denied.
Too bad, liked this truck. Terrific truck with the camper
No chips, scratches on rear window, 25,000 ks on truck
Will check out GMC in Penticton today....

There have been a lot of blown out rear windows in Ford trucks for the last 10 years or so. Ford keeps trying to pass the buck. Smell a class action lawsuit coming their way very soon.

I Know Kia and Hyundai have had some issues in the past but Kia is also rated tied for 1st on initial quality by JD Power.

There are no guarantees and will have to keep our fingers crossed. Time will tell.

Initial quality starts with a quality pen ;-)

Glad you love your new baby.

If I may add: last I checked around for vehicle pricing, I looked as far as Ontario. I got a quote from a Toronto dealership and even with shipping it would had been a great deal. I show these to local dealers and they are more than willing to beat it. I found a display model with a little mileage, and the Kelowna dealership offered me a new model at a lower price.

Going to speedy to get the rear window replaced. I'll take the $ 500 comprehensive deductible bill to them to see if they will pay that. Window was $1350 installed.

Concerned with any warranty claims in the future now. I really don't believe the dealers like warranty repairs as the rate they receive to fix claims is less that what us shmucks are charged.
GM products are comparable after checking out a 3500 but prices are considerably more now two years later.

As a side note, I had a faulty front assist sensor on my VW and took it in to Capilano VW after Turner wouldn't look at it. ( bought it at Cap VW) Ready for a sensor adjustment bill and when I picked it up they said the sensor was faulty, N/C -warranty. Next car will be an Audi Allroad or if I can get over the pretentiousness RS6 Avant.. Love wagons.

Wagon's are becoming a rare breed (again), VW is dropping their's for the North American market when the MK8 Golf hits here which is a shame, the Golf/Jetta Sportwagens have been selling quite well in Canada including the new Alltrack. Love the new Outback but no manual option, same with the Allroad, wish we had the manual gearbox.

Remember when auto trans was a expensive option on new vehicles? Now it's a optional upgrade to get a stick shift. Used to have a 67 Caprice with a 3 on the tree.

All our vehicles are auto boxes now, save my 40 year old now classic.

I do see a fair number of these on the road now.
For me, wagons are so practical. Two dogs and room for stuff. For yard debris I towed a small dump trailer.

I would like to take VW Golf R on a track and have some fun (manual of course).
Gradually work my way up to hellcat.

I have an Golf R with APR stage 1, soon to have stage 2. PDK shift though. Car is just amazing. Brother bought one as well and summed it up nicely by saying, " finally a car that does everything they claim it does"

I was wanting to take it to Area 27 for what was once offered as a two and a half day course with your own car. They only offer the course now with one of their cars, A Camaro.. kinda sucks.

Apparently the VW Sportwagen is no longer being made.

We traded in a VW Tiguan for the Kia Seltos and while the VW was OK, so far I like the Kia much better.

Golf R is a cool "hot hatch"..........you went the right way with the PDK style auto..........the standard transmissin in a Golf R does not work well with 290 + HP.............works OK with the lower HP GTI.

Give it a few more years and well be saying "remember when stick shift was available?" Getting harder and harder to find cars with manual. Love the Outback, perfect size to sleep in but no manual and since we drive more than we sleep in it, looks like we might have to settle for the smaller Crosstrek.

Absolutely, wagons offer the practicality of a SUV but the better handling of a car.

Doesn't Area 27 have the R anymore? They had one about 3-4 years ago.
Bsuds wrote:Apparently the VW Sportwagen is no longer being made.

Its still being made, its just not being brought over to the North American market with the new Mk8 Golf generation, so the current Mk7 Golf generation are being carried over until the Mk8s arrive here end of next year. The way it stands now, the US will only be getting the Mk8 GTI and R and Canada will be getting the base Golf as well as the GTI and R, however, rumours float every once in awhile that we may get another generation of wagons here because they sell much better here than in the US and VW has traditionally been much more customer friendly here than in the US in regards to trim levels and models like the Mk4 and Mk4.5 City Jetta and Golfs.

I've always like the little PQ46 platform but found them to small to be really practical. The current Tiggy on the MQB, although lost its character, definitely offers more practicality over the first generation.

I was actually gonna post this earlier. The R is good with the 6 speed manual if you just want to use it as a daily driver, but if you really want to use the car to its full potential or do some mods to it, then as much as it pains me to say it, the DSG is the way to go, especially the 7 speed on the Mk7.5 (2018 and up) vs the 6 speed on the Mk7 (2015-17). I also agree that if you're gonna go with a GTI, get the 6 speed manual, its much better suited for that car.

Me personally, for a fun daily driver, I'd go with the base model GTI, $11000 cheaper than the R, so if you can live without the all-wheel drive, use that extra cash and mod it

Stay away from the higher trim levels of the GTI though, if you're gonna spend $39000 on a Golf (ouch!) then its worth spending the extra $3000 on the R. But, if you want all the goodies in the top of the line GTI but can't afford more than a base GTI, then go for the GLI, you loose the hatch and bragging rights of a true GTI owner, but you get the same performance and a car thats absolutely loaded for under $32000.

^^^ thank you for info
all I wanted to do is see what the awd R could do without doing it on public roadways.

Of course the one that would probably freak the hell out of myself is 800 hp hellcat (actual 797hp at this point what’s 3).

Better half has a Crosstrek. 2015 I believe. Does not vary too much from 9.4L/100ks (30 mpg) 158 hp engine is great for around town, but underpowered for me anywhere else. I find I use more brake pedal pressure than I believe is necessary to slow/stop the car. Dealer says its fine. Turns on a time, incredible tight turning radius.
Great car in snow, great for packing the two dogs, wife seems to pack no end of plants and shrubs in the back. I'd recommend for around town driving.

I saw that as well. Interesting they picked that car when other "hot-hatches" were out there as well.

Do you want to know what is really obscene?

Out of 35 new GMC pickups at one local dealer

one is $45,000
one is $48,000
ten are about $56,000
seven are about $60,000

The auto manufacturers have declared war on small business people and farmers who need a pickup to haul stuff.
You can get a good cheap small car still, but they don't make a fairly priced pickup truck any more.

That's not good.

And where's the deals? If a pandemic is killing Canadians everywhere.

Lucky to have that number.
A few months ago I was at Skaha Ford and they had 2 F350's and perhaps 8 F150's on the pretty thin lot.
Pickups are the new grocery-getter as that is all most will carry.

Got the Stage 2 done a few months ago now. Close to 400 hp ( chart says 385). Absolutely love it. ( PDK) Gas mileage is down a bit but still can get 30mpg if I behave on the hwy. Driving up Apex is now a delightful drive having awd. When the road allows it, I can pass safely in a blink. A YouTube video shows one with 0-60 around 3.7 sec.
Personally I don't think the 700hp or so in a Hellcat is required to give you a scare, one of these I'm sure could do the job quite nicely while still getting decent mileage.
As a qualifier, I admit I really don't have the skill set to get the most out of this power but knowing it is there when I want or need it is terrific.
