I miss Jo.

Post by I Think »

After a 3 year hiatus from these forums, I come back get the feeling that plain fun is not on the agenda.
There used to be way more interpersonal exchanges, G2G's, threads where posters would write the next installment on a party at someones house.............. y'know the one where the rolling stones showed up to entertain. One of these on a snowbirds rv trip, full of ridiculous breakdowns and crazy campers.
Sure there were some heated discussions, yet people would put disagreements aside to take part in some of the fun.
Any opinions why the forums are not so friendly & lively as they once seemed to be?
We're lost but we're making good time.

Not just the forums suffering from this. As a society we have never been this divided. Politics and side choosing and being on the "right side of history" hasn't been like this in most of our lifetimes.

People fight on my Facebook, shun each other. People who were friends no longer speaking because one votes conservative and the other liberal.

Jo was cool. Strict but had a sense of humor. I got in trouble quite a bit but she always was fair.

Forums seem about the same to me
As for the GTGs, they were fun until they become mean - one was organized but everyone was forbidden to tell one Poster here it was on as they didn't want said Poster to attend. I refused to go
Funny enough when the shunned from the GTG Poster passed the chest pounding re sorrow was so ironic I gagged

I have met a few people in person, and it's nice to know them as FB friends as well as forum friends.

Things have changed online because the world has changed.

Yeah, I miss Jo too. I'm really glad we still have ferri :130:

I loved Jo. we went back and forth on lots of stuff.

I truly enjoy all the mods today. It's gotta be a thankless job but if it weren't for them, Truth would be around a lot more. [icon_lol2.gif]

Ferri reminds me of Jo and we yak a fair bit also behind the scenes about stuff like commutation of my punishments, books, football etc.

She's pretty cool.

Catsumi is tough but I finally figured her out and we have a good situation.

No I think Brandts, it was probably the largest GTG I attended
Wow, some of the folks than came have long since vanished from the forums

I know - every so often I get hit with nostalgia and wonder how they are doing. The ones that have just not come back. Sometimes I feel sad about the ones who have passed on. And sometimes I wonder if maybe some of the first group are actually with the second group. Honestly, it is nice when someone comes on and lets us know. Sad though.

I think I went to 3 of the GTG's.

I'm going to go against the popular opinion here and say I don't miss her.

She took something I posted totally the wrong way and would not listen to reason. (I got banned from the speakeasy for it)

I don't care to go back and don't even know if it's still there.

I seriously considered quitting the forum over it but she left shortly after so I stuck around to see how things went.

That's worked out great for me!

I can honestly say how can I miss someone I didn’t know personally, be Jo or ferri its just words on a computer/tablet screen.

FB era has changed the whole idea of connection, I have group friends and we don’t connect via a device. We connect in getting together, now last number of months there been no hi-5s.

btw I sure both of head of this forum are nice people in person, so thumbs up for each one
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

She was the one who got me involved here ... and a few other things I have to thank her for but that's not for here ...

Sadly I don't think she could have saved us from the tone the forums have taken ...

I suspect it's a thankless job and Management puts many restrictions on the forums. Some good some not so much so.

jo seemed to be under a lot of pressure and needed a break. Over all I liked her and hope she is doing well.
