Dance Party

Post by oneh2obabe »

Some are born with natural rhythm.

Chandrae “Chanzie” Roettig and Stephen Sayer, a dancing duo from California, have been teaching the Jitterbug, Lindy Hop, and other dance styles that harken back to the 1920s. And after winning numerous awards in those divisions, they’ve definitely shown that they lead by example.

Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

When you think of a dancer, what image comes to mind?

Probably, your first thoughts are of long, lean, muscular bodies, bare chests, and too much glittery spandex, right?

John Lindo certainly doesn't have a ballet bod, nor the bare-chested, bronze-skinned look of a salsa dancer. He doesn't even look like the typical country bumpkin you'd spot in a line dance, though his dance career started with country-western.

Even after years of dancing, winning a ton of championship titles, and releasing no less than 7 instructional dance DVDs, John has a Big Boy Bamboo bod.

Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.

^^^The video shows a pair dancing to the tune of “Honky Tonk Women” by Travis Tritt. The video shows how good they are and how synchronised they move together. But most of all, what’s truly mesmerising is that their body language and steps intertwined perfectly to the tune of country music - it is very rare to dancesport.

Nellia and Dietmar Ehrentraut have a passion and talent for swing dance. The Austrian couple has been married since 1970. And now in their 60s and 70s, respectively, Nellia and Dietmar still dance like they are in their teens. They are truly incredible.

I Love this. They seemed so into each other that it is easy to imagine them going off into a dark, quiet place afterward to enjoy each other.

^^^Not bad for a J&J competition ... partners are randomly drawn so they have no prior knowledge of who will be their partner, nor which type of music will be played. One of the key elements of a Jack & Jill contest is the element of improvisation which is why choreography is not allowed. This improv-based feature can prove to be extremely entertaining as dancers try to coordinate dancing with this new partner while dancing to the specific characteristics of a random song.

Jessica Cox and Sean McKeever are experienced swing dancers that have decades of dancing under their belts. These professional dancers have practiced rigorously for years in order to reach their level of ability. They can certainly move in ways that many of us couldn't even imagine.

Thomas Audon and Sophie Allaf are a duo of boogie-woogie dancers from the south-east of France. They were intended for science and economics and they took another path, that of dance. It was in 2015 that they won their first WRRC World Cup in Winterthur, Switzerland. Thorbjørn Urskog and Flora Bouchereau started dancing together in 2014. At the age of 15 Thorbjørn discovered the world of swing dancing and became immediately hooked. Flora Bouchereau has been dancing since she was 10 years old and actively competing since the age of 14. In 2014 Flora won the world championship in boogie woogie main class as the youngest winning dancer in that category’s history.
