Moving along to more current times, it has been said more than once, that particularly with the NDP push toward electric cars, BC will not only need Site C but even more.

Was there not also a story about BC purchasing electricity from California?

One problem I see in BC is that there are simply put too many no income and low income people/familys in BC at the current time all dependent on NDP style socialist's systems then add in a large group of lefty liberals from universitys , school teachers, union workers etc and your going to get yet another NDP none growth value of 4 more years in BC

Yeah, it's a shame that there's no way to take away the vote from these leftists and ensure that we get a good gubment.

Will he or won't he call an election? That's the question. Is the title of this thread correct, i.e. 16 months to a BC election, or will we be going to the polls in October?

We could all come up with a long list of reasons not to be going to the polls next month. At the top of the list would be the fact that there's a pandemic. Another obvious reason is that there's no need for an election right now. There is only one reason why Horgan is itching to have an election now and we all know that reason.

Horgan is looking at the polls and he thinks he can win big. Well, he'd better think twice before he actually visits the Lieutenant Governor because calling an unnecessary election might blow up in his face.

I agree and many people are concerned about voting during a pandemic:

One-third of the B.C. residents who responded to the Angus Reid survey said they would feel uncomfortable heading to the polls in person this fall, compared to a normal year, due to concerns around COVID-19.

Big lead for the NDP in the latest polls though so Horgan will be tempted:

Forty-eight per cent of British Columbians surveyed by Angus Reid last week said they would vote to keep the premier's party in power if they were called to the polls later this year.

Just under 30 per cent of decided and leaning voters said they would cast a ballot for the B.C. Liberals, while 14 per cent said they would vote for the B.C. Green Party.

It will be this fall. And I believe both Federal and Provincial elections. This winter is going to be miserable. Covid is going to spike even higher. Much higher with no vaccine. Unemployment will rise dramatically and the number of people seeking welfare will go up. It would be far better for the NDP in BC to get the election out of the way before the bad news hits and while they are still ahead of the Liberals. And before the Liberals wake up and realize that Wilkenson isn't a leader.

Federally, the same things apply to the Liberals. Get it out of the way before winter. It's going to be tough times for many Canadians and going to the polls next spring or fall will likely be worse than now.

Even if there is poor voter turnout and people are mad about going to the polls, I can't forsee the electorate punishing Horgan to the extent of voting in the BC Liberals!

Eric Foster calls the possibility of a 2020 election "opportunism". It would be different if it was the Liberals calling the election. Then it would be "good government".
