Very bad move... NDP is already weak in the Okanagan... zero chance she gets in.

Toni Boot NDP candidate in next provincial election

Post by old boy »

Best kept secret in the South Okanagan!! Certainly breaking a major municipal election promise! But with her recent hijinks in regards to racism, this should be no surprise to anyone!! How fair is it that she can still be the Mayor and focus on the Provincial NDP affairs, leave of absence or not!!

I'm going to suggest it is as fair as it was for Mayor Dan Ashton and Councilor Tarik Sayeed. If we don't draw our Provincial candidates from the Municipal pool, where should they come from and how would they avoid the criticism of no political experience?

Support your candidate or party as much as you want, but in this day and age with all the over the top vitriol thrown at political candidates and their families, I think anyone that puts their name forward as a candidate for any party deserves some respect - if not appreciation.

Cheers.

Boot sought the NDP nomination for the Penticton riding in advance of the 2017 provincial election, but lost out to Penticton city councillor Tarik Sayeed, who went on to lose to incumbent Liberal MLA Dan Ashton by a large margin.

Soon to lose again.
Maybe this is a good way to get rid of politicians. Have them run in provincial elections for the NDP. :D
At least in this riding. [icon_lol2.gif]
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

The Summerland mayor Toni Boot was deliberately vague denying she said she could do anything she wanted because she was mayor. She lied, flat out. You think the business owner had anything to gain making that claim? He wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of a race dispute that would torpedo his business.

The mayor used the race furor for visibility to promote a run for provincial politics. She and the John 'Trump' Horvath NDP are deceitful and untrustworthy opportunists exploiting BLM and Covid.

I predict that "SHE" (not the citizens) will get the "Boot" next Election. [icon_lol2.gif] Ashton has zero to worry about. Had she not done that little rant at the store selling "whatever" she may have had a reasonably good chance; no longer though. She should be forced to resign (no L.O.A.'s) or fulfil the full municipal term.

That was being talked about locally, didn't Dan Ashton take an unpaid leave of absence while he campaigned ? Can't remember what Sayeed did.

Ms. Boot will have her work cut out for her. If Dan runs again it will be his third term, and he has been pretty much scandal free. I think he has some respect among voters in Penticton while Ms. Boot has already raised a few eyebrows, and not in a good way.

If she runs provincially and loses she'll be in an unenviable spot resuming her position as Mayor, having to explain how she was ready to drop the job and run. In any event she likely wouldn't make it through another election in Summerland.

Not if you actually want the NDP to succeed.
