Mail in envelope tampering

Post by Mark5 »

I received my mail in voting packaging a few days ago. I filled out my choice of candidate and when I went to put the sheet into the envelope I discovered that both envelopes were already sealed. I tried to open them but they ripped. I have contacted Elections BC. I advise others to examine their package. I do not think I trust this mail in voting.

No problem with the envelopes in the package I received.

I can see a challenge to this election because of mail in voting.

There is no way I will be voting by mail.

My envelopes are fine. Perhaps your voting package was subjected to a higher humidity situation in transit and the glue on the flaps stuck them shut. I've had that happen with return envelopes in the mail before. Jumping to the conclusion that it's "tampering" is a bit of a stretch...it's probably just the weather.

Voting by mail is as secure as voting in person, it's not new and it's not going to cause a challenge to the election. What it might do is cause the results to be delayed because so many ballots are being mailed in, but that's not that big a deal.

Probably take until Oct 24, 2021, to sort, verify, count all the mail-in ballots. [icon_lol2.gif]

Yes, we have been warned of that already. In ridings where the race is close a winner may not be declared for some time, as much as two weeks after the election.

"As much as two weeks" I believe would relate to the time-frame when there were perhaps 12,000 mail-in ballots.
As of Oct 1: 474,000 mail-in ballots have been requested.

I wonder if they'll provide a breakdown of requests by riding. It would be interesting to know where people are most enthusiastic about mail-in ballots.

Here’s a screenshot from a FB post I saw this morning.

Received ours this morning at the post office (no home delivery here) and no problems with the envelopes.

That's only if they can find enough people who can count.

Humidity sounds good. I was guessing maybe it was raining on delivery day and they got damp as well. Doesn't sound like tampering overall, just a rushed poorly thought out and implemented election call for personal gain, not provincial benefit.

Remember that when voting.
The last time I won a prize at the fair everyone told me I was a winner, but really, the prize was crap, my wallet was empty and the only happy person was a Carney.
