The opposite of socialism is fascism so we know where them folks stand . Wow. Big of a stretch there. No where in any of mine or anyone's posts is there any kind of semblance or endorsement of facism. There are more people that support the center than in the far right or far left. And just so you know the opposite of socialism is capitalism not facism, that is coming right from your clouded mind

Would you like a dictionairy so you can learn the deffinition of these words you are throwing around. And a thesaurus so you can learn what the antonyms actually are.
Back to your point. Corp welfare bad.... gov welfare good. Is that right. You know without companies and corporations your precious gov would not have the money to dish out its socialist agenda

The actual reality indianlarry66 is that no one gives a hoot what you want either, not the collective, and especially not government.69cutlass wrote: Wow. Big of a stretch there. Corporate welfare is bad. On this we can agree, because it encourages businesses to remain non-competitive and discourages innovation in a constantly changing market. What is Gov't welfare? Is that like when the Gov't can't balance its budget, but likes to pretend it can do math, so it lifts a couple billion dollars from the ratepayers of ICBC?
What is this socialist agenda you speak of?

That's right - far right in fact. It follows the fascist precept of "men are no more than puppets, carried to and f ro by the waves of chance, while the real directing forces are quite out of their control."Urban Cowboy wrote:The actual reality indianlarry66 is that no one gives a hoot what you want either, not the collective, and especially not government.

It was the NDP who concocted the idea of raiding BC Hydro and ICBC.
Here's an excerpt from a Vancouver Sun editorial......
Yet instead of adopting one and getting on with it, the NDP opts to exploit an opportunity to throw dirt upon the previous government, and pretend to come off as innocent victims of a scheme they wish the electorate to believe the Liberals dreamed up. Well they didn't and the NDP should own it.The concept of a Crown corp paying a dividend to its single shareholder — the government — is hardly new or controversial. The NDP instituted the practice with BC Hydro in 1992, the idea being that a government-owned entity should share its good fortune with all citizens in the province. Earlier this year, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. said it would pay a special dividend to the federal government of $4 billion and plans to pay regular quarterly dividends going forward.
As it happens, when sales of ICBC’s optional insurance suffered a setback, the previous Liberal government said last November it would not take dividends from ICBC for three years.
The crisis facing ICBC is more fundamental: an increase in crashes, higher claims for repairs and injury and soaring litigation costs. Most other jurisdictions have moved away from B.C’s litigation-based insurance model, opting instead for a comprehensive care model, in which claimants receive treatment rather than a cash settlement, or a hybrid model that sets caps on payments for pain and suffering caused by minor injuries.
The E&Y report presented a number of scenarios that would save between $770 million to $1.4 billion a year, with resulting annual premium reductions of $380 to $630. The government should adopt one and get on with it.
The ICBC is an example of flogging a dead horse as Eby continues to try and blame the Liberals for everything when in fact, and audits support this, the problem has been major increases in the cost of repairs, and lawyers bleeding the system dry. Repair increase largely being due to manufacturers patenting parts to make it impossible to use aftermarket less expensive alternatives in executing repairs. So in short automaker greed is about the biggest reason insurance encountered unexpected costs of late.
Worth noting that this would have happened regardless of what political party is running the province. It just so happens to be that rather than be truthful it's much simpler for Eby to cling to the "dumpster fire" narrative and point at the Liberals.
This alone is reason enough to never vote NDP.

Re: Provincial joke
There's a lot of truth in that, the idea of "the greater good" has sure taken second place to "what's good for me" and governments of all stripes play right into that with things like handouts and tax cuts. This attitude will take us nowhere but further down a road of environmental ruin, economic inequality, and swelling ranks of marginalized and disenfranchised. I think the NDP are ahead of the Libs in recognizing these issues but the cost for any government to deal with them is not something that gets much air around election time.Urban Cowboy wrote:The actual reality indianlarry66 is that no one gives a hoot what you want either, not the collective, and especially not government.

Re: Provincial joke
BC Liberals will lose... people haven’t forgotten the mess Christy Clark and Gordon Campbell left behind. NDP/Greens did a good job sorting out the mess and put money back into sectors that Liberals slashed for years.
Okanagan folk are stubborn though... and will vote BC Liberals because that is all they know. NDP bad, Liberals good.

Would you be willing to admit that an NDP majority is not the same as what we have now? Without oversight, we may have the same garbage we had in the 1990's with the NDP? As much as you may not have forgotten CC and GC, we haven't forgotten the last time the NDP were given full power. It was some really really dark times for BC.Thebrewhouse wrote:

Yes, if they can gain a majority without help from the Greens they will pretty much have a blank cheque drawn on the bank of BC Taxpayers. I sure hope they can handle that responsibly. The Green Barbarian wrote:Would you be willing to admit that an NDP majority is not the same as what we have now?

Absolutely... the Greens held the NDP more accountable... I actually like it when two parties are in control because it is a more rounded government in my opinion. The Green Barbarian wrote:Would you be willing to admit that an NDP majority is not the same as what we have now? To be fair the last time NDP has full power was from a flip flop politician that switched over to BC Liberals.
His name was Ujjal Dosanjh.

Six months after the article you cite, we found out what the BC Liberals were hiding and for how long it was hidden.
Read the ICBC report the B.C. Liberals didn’t want you to see
“I think it’s important for British Columbians to know I haven’t even read those seven pages,” Eby told reporters on Wednesday. “I haven’t seen the report myself. It’s protected by cabinet privilege.
