So how do you explain the fact that money laundering is an issue across the whole country then?

I'm quite certain the BC Libs had nothing to do with the problem that exists in every other province.

Because the BC Libs renewed the Provincial RCMP contract and the organization has always struggled to fulfill its obligation in BC. Second time I've mentioned it today, but if you review the Royal Commission report into the Air India bombing it is quite clearly laid out in that report. The RCMP as an organization has not been able to adapt to national policing objectives and are instead in perpetual near crisis mode with the burden of the BC RCMP contract. Just look at how slow the organization is to deal with the relatively few bad apples.

The other aspect is the BC Libs created a jurisdictional grey area within the casinos between the RCMP and BCLC. Under the Liberal flag BCLC also undertook a policy to aggressively obfuscate the circumstances. Even the opposition party of the day didn't have, and couldn't get a clear picture of the depth of the problem.

I repeat the issue is a Canada wide problem, but ya'll are stuck on BC Liberals, so by all means please explain just how they are responsible for an issue plaguing the whole country?

Strikes me as a federal problem, and they most certainly have methods at their disposal by which they could put a damper on the issue. They just seem to be lacking motivation.

Somewhat lost in the ten years of news we've been bombarded with over the last nine months is clearly this isn't just a Canada wide problem. This is a world wide problem and I don't believe it to be entirely accidental, or incidental.

I'm not stuck on the BC Liberals, or trying to lay it all at their feet. My point is we didn't move forward by committing to maintain a status quo that clearly wasn't working at the time. The RCMP is facing a whole series of systemic issues and the fact they struggle with their federal policing mandate is well established. We need to start wrapping our heads around the fact the Provincial/Municipal RCMP contracts aren't working. Human resources have been a consistent issue over the last couple of decades. The community policing models, that are proving to be somewhat effective in other jurisdictions, are nearly impossible to implement when you have a police force that isn't integrated into the community it serves. Things have changed. It's far easier for foreign based crime operations to commit crime in Canada today than it was even 20 years ago. (They don't have to set foot in the country to do it.) Can you tell when you look at an RCMP officer if he's charged with federal duties, provincial duties, municipal duties, aboriginal duties, or other contract obligations? There are times I'm willing to bet the officer in the role wouldn't even be sure.

So, while we've fought hard to maintain a comfortable status quo that we're all familiar with, organized international crime has taken a completely different approach. The results are obvious and far reaching.

So call let's call this what it is. One of the handful of times I wholeheartedly agree with you. It's a federal problem, but the federal police force is overwhelmed with the burdens of Provincial and Municipal policing. We knew this when BC signed the last RCMP contract. I'll be honest with you - I really can't lay this on any political party because I don't see a progressive option out there that's willing to take it on.

New Democratic Party isn't exactly what one would expect from the name either, given they are more socialist than anything else, with a penchant for robbing Peter to give a handout to Paul.

About the only thing they've proven themselves expert at (other than increasing the public service payroll), is spending other peoples' money, and believe you me they haven't been around quite long enough, for people to appreciate how nasty things will get, once taxes get raised left right and center, to pay for all the vote buying bills that come in.

The "wealth tax" that they call speculator tax to make it more palatable, is but the beginning.

Give the grinning fool a majority, and you best buckle your seat belt cause it's gonna be a wild ride.

Pity that it would appear there are enough gullible voters out there to give the goof a majority.

One big thing to remember is the difference between the Liberals and NDP when it comes to accepting racism etc. Liberals candidate states rude comments, quickly removed as a candidate for the Liberals, NDP does the same, nothing done, weak apology and off you go.
