Couldn't find another forum to post this so I thought this one would do.
This is a interesting play by play vid about the air war of Desert Storm-day one.

^^^ interesting, for me anyway. Didn't realize the coalition lost as many planes as they did. The F-4's last hurrah, as a wild weasel. F111's, Tornado's, A-6's have all been retired I believe and I have not heard much about the F-117 for todays missions.
Canada's F-18's should have been replaced years ago as well.

Watching the graphics, what an ATC's nightmare.

Thanks for posting.
I didn't know the UK retired the Tornado. Makes sense with the F 35 filling its role.
I think there are F-117s still flying but they are withdrawn from service. It was a sketchy airplane and the first in service test bed for stealth tech. The F-35 probably was able to replace it in the stealth role as long as weapon stores are internal on the F35.
Either way- this vid shows how effective a multi national air campaign can be at totally disabling the 4th or 5th largest army(?) in the world at the time.
This vid also shows how much fire power it takes to disable even a small country like Iraq and just how huge of a step it would be to go to war with Russia and or China. How nearly impossible it would be for the US to tackle Iran which is 5 times bigger than Iraq. The coalition threw a large percentage of their respective air forces at Iraq. In a war with China or Russia, I'm not sure NATO could muster even 3 times the firepower they had in Desert Storm- A European theatre of war could be dominated by Russia I think.

The F-4.....just its look screams 'I am 100% business'.

The Vulcan....apparently the loudest aircraft ever.
If I were the captain of a Vulcan bomber doing a nighttime bombing run, I'd approach the target throttled back and wait until I was close enough to adjust the throttles to get a nice loud howl to bleep with the enemies heads and set the mood before the bombs I just dropped started to hit their targets.

For those of you that are SR-71 junkies.... this guy is as badazz as it gets. The guy went to hell and back- it's a long vid, but for the funny part, just go to 56 min into the vid for 'LA Speed Check' [icon_lol2.gif]

I use to watch US Navy F4's do touch downs at the base in Subic Bay Phillipines in 68-71 when my ship was in port there.

They were practicing Aircraft Carrier landings. Was really interesting to watch them up close.

I was standing at the top of Pike's Peak looking down at them a few years ago. That was cool as they were quite close.
