We make ours with finely chopped onion, garlic, carrots. Yes, carrot to add a veggie filling. Does not change the flavour.
We have not done a turkey at all, maybe for New Years Eve.

As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

Beef, pork, veal or a combination? Tell your wife that's an awesome looking pie.sobrohusfat wrote:The only "meat-loaf" I like is tourtière - the French-Canadian meat-loaf pie

Of course you have to have ketchup with it.
Oh God, being Scottish tell me she doesn't make haggis. Gramps made it every year and when he brought it up to the house I had more reasons why I couldn't partake. Sorry gramps, just getting ready to leave - have to do this or that - see you later.

I had Haggis once many years ago and I have no intention of having it again!
We had sweet and sour pork with noodles last night cooked in my new Lagostina enameled cast iron pot. Boy those pots are heavy!
Came out great.

Sudsy, what size pot did you get? Word to the wise - never ever fill it to the brim if you plan on lifting it off the stove or out of the oven.
I inherited a bunch of Lodge cast iron pots and skillets from granny. Dutch oven is great for making artisan breads in the oven or slow simmering stews and soups. Heavier than hell empty - need to flex your muscles a few times to remove them when full.

It's a 3.8 litre.
I saw a recipe for a no knead artisan bread that I want to try. It should work good for my Shepherds pie too.

I'll agree with all those.
As for garlic, I planted about 90 of them last fall. We go through a lot.
One other thing that's big on the list, your DNA.
And for supper tonight, there's a large pot of chicken on the stove right now and to it there will be added a large pot of polenta. Of course, washed down with a glass of red wine.

Tonight, I am having a small Pork tenderloin tail, in a fry pan, well seasoned with garlic, rosemary, +++
Home made apple sauce, leftover fried, mashed potatoes, and either corn or peas......I haven't decided yet.

We’re treating ourselves because it’s New Year’s Eve. So we’re having Steak Oscar, asparagus and baked potatoes with all the trimmings.

Sounds great, but, I would substitute Broccoli for that Asparagus stuff. (Just my personal choice).
I looked it up, the picture and recipe look good.
How many are you cooking this for?

They said 2 hours for the order and the next choice was 1.5 hours.Bsuds wrote:We are going to order Chinese take out
We had crappy, dry McD burgers. Kind of appropriate way to end to a horrible year.
