First right thing these 2 knuckle heads have done in last 24 hours. They did the crime so charge them as adults, so they can do the time.

If you are 16 or 17 years old and you have been charged with murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, or aggravated sexual assault, your trial will automatically be moved to adult court unless your lawyer can convince the judge to keep the trial in the Youth Court.

Before a young person is transferred to adult court, a hearing will be held where the Crown prosecutor and the lawyer for the young person are given a chance to be heard by the judge. The judge will consider several factors when deciding whether to transfer a young person to adult court, such as the seriousness of the offence, public safety, and the need to help the young person.

Thank god. I'm 100% sure they won't be charged with murder, probably manslaughter. And probably only one of them.

But even then, he should be tried as adult.

That may depend on what was picked up on his body-cam.

Yes, the 17 year old was driving the car. Not sure what the "desk job" has to do with anything. I'm more frustrated with our legal system and will hope the 17 year old is charged and expected to be handled as an adult in this case.

Yeah I don't get the thought process there. What is this person thinking wishing harm on another? Without context it just seems to be pure evil at play here.

Lawyer for the 17 year old is upset that his name had been released - guess she forgot there had to be an appllcation made to the Yourth Division for it to be made public.
Both teens accused of murdering a Calgary police officer will seek bail as soon as possible, according to their lawyers.

Amir Abdulrahman, 19, and a 17-year-old male youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are each charged with the first-degree murder of Sgt. Andrew Harnett, who was killed as a vehicle fled a traffic stop on New Year's Eve.
