If so good luck to defence attorney.
They said on the news last night that if you kill a cop, the charge is automatically murder.

Some homicides are automatically considered first-degree murder: The killing of an on-duty police officer or prison employee.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

Oh, this explains it. I wondering why they went with it.

Here's the law:
Murder of peace officer, etc.

(4) Irrespective of whether a murder is planned and deliberate on the part of any person, murder is first degree murder when the victim is

(a) a police officer, police constable, constable, sheriff, deputy sheriff, sheriff’s officer or other person employed for the preservation and maintenance of the public peace, acting in the course of his duties;

(b) a warden, deputy warden, instructor, keeper, jailer, guard or other officer or a permanent employee of a prison, acting in the course of his duties; or

(c) a person working in a prison with the permission of the prison authorities and acting in the course of his work therein.

Nice to see some persons use google. Some here are not lawyers and don't realize what the law reads.

I do hope these two are heald accountable and both convicted for their part n this senseless crime. Very sad to hear another brother killed in the line of duty.

It won't be lond and there will be a shortage of Police in Canada as even civilians are seeing though the system. Police held to a high standard, accused well they had trouble as youths. Not held accountable...things need to change soon!!

One of the lawyers for the killers is part of the same law team that defended Edouard Maurice. The man who shot at criminals on his rural property near Okotoks. Tonii Roulston. The firm is Roulston Urquhart.

Andrea Urquhart will defend the 19 year old.
She has many cases of defending killers.
Latest killer was sentenced to 9.5 years for a stabbing. She lost the sentence time argument as the judge sided with the crown.

The other lawyer, for the 17 year old, is Kaysi Fagan.
She defends drunk drivers and gets them acquitted.
Seems quite proud of it.
