The only mine up there I have never been too, and although it is not officially open they still need a few loads brought in or out this year.
Very few drivers get selected for the trip, but I have earned a good reputation giving me a good chance.

Coffee. It's been over a month now without.

Struggles with my internals has placed it to the back-burner.

My preference. Maxwell House Dark Roast, 1 heaping tbs + a bit more to every 2 cups.

You are absolutely right about no cameras allowed to be turned on inside the minesite Biker,
We are allowed to have them running up to the mine borders.
So the videos will have trucks, possibly people, drifting snow and hopefully some beautiful light shows. But never anything from inside the site.
The only mine I find interesting is Ekati, it's basically a city out there.

Hats off to you quitting coffee.

A question re brands of coffee. What is everyone drinking these days.

We have gone from Tim Hortons to Van Houtte and now it seems to have changed too.

We like a medium roast that is not bitter or burnt. Tried some Mcaffee and didn't like that much and some President's Choice premium blend and not liking it either.

Right now we're liking Nabob 1896 Tradition. We do have Hazelnut Vanilla beans to be ground up lined up next.

I prefer local roasters as much as possible, but if I was going to buy from a store I'd choose Salt Springs.

It took a lot of testing before we found what we liked.
My favourite by far is Starbucks Pike Place coffee, Keurig pods. I'm not crazy about the real stuff in their stores.
My wife prefers Starbucks True North and Pike Place as well as McD's.

My favourite out of the house, in a coffee place: A & W coffee, both their older and their more recent coffee. But very few of them are open for inside enjoyment with a china mug.

No Keurig or similar thing here.

Starbucks discontinued some of their coffees a couple of years ago, and personally I'm not crazy about their core roasts. However, I do like some of their limited time roasts, like Casi Cielo.

Sort of sorry for the bump.
I just didn't want to start another coffee related thread for this.

Upon my return from my 6 weeks at work my coffee just didn't taste as good.
That was with fresh beans roasted from the same place and everything.
It didn't taste bad, just didn't meet my standards.

Plus when I boiled water for my hot chocolate I would almost smell something fishy.
So I haven't been making coffee at home as much lately.

Then 2 days ago I realized the water in my filtered water jug is now also starting to smell fishy.

Living in a small town, I can't just go buy a filter down the street. Plus it isn't worth the 45 minute drive per direction to buy one.
So what do I do?

I then thought, they tell us to run a mild vinegar rinse through our coffee machines from time to time.
So even though it isn't recommended in water filters, what is the worst thing that could happen?
I would have to buy a new filter.

So I tried it, 10% vinegar 90% tap water.
The first flush removed 90% of the odour
The second rinse removed 100%
Then of course 2 rinse cycles with tap water.

My coffee now tastes amazing again.

After this, I am wondering if we are buying way too many water filters, and should just be giving them a good vinegar rinse from time to time instead.

Summertime means Cold Brew Time.

For those who haven't tried Cold Brew coffee and tea,
The slow process brings out natural flavors and healthy oils you just don't get through the normal processes.



My cold brew Coffee Recipe is
800ml room temperature filtered water.
130 grams of freshly roasted course grind coffee beans.
Water in the French Press first then the coffee ontop.
Use a spoon to just press the coffee into the water enough to moisten it all.
Cover and let brew on the counter for 12 hours.

Press the filter down and pour into a 4 cup measuring cup.
It is concentrated, so take note of the level. Pour into a glass pitcher and pour equal amount of room temperature filtered water.
Just like spaghetti sauce, it tastes good right away but if you can wait it's better the next day.

As for the Tea,
I start off with roughly 4 litres of room temperature filtered water.
Pour in some honey
Throw in 10 teabags of my choice.
Let sit on the counter for 6 plus hours.
Remove the tea bags and add the lemon or lime slices.
I always have to add more water to suit my taste.
If possible I prefer using a glass jug with loose tea and then filter it through a coffee filter.

Then transfer it over to the pitcher in my first photo.

You can leave either of them on the counter for a few days.
Or place them in the refrigerator.
And enjoy them as you like.

Oh, yes I know I need a bigger French Press

Do you really want to come to my house at midnight, and have your car washed in the dark, by some jacked up, 1/2 drunk pensioner? It can get kinda sketchy if a step ladder is required to get the roof........

It's by appointment only, wheels are extra, and you need to have the gate code to get in. I haven't set a price for a wash and entertainment package yet.
