Vernon Composting View

Post by rclindberg »

I was just reading about the city looking into either curbside pickup of compost or providing a composting container. I am just wondering how other people that are composting already are keeping rodents away from these bins? I am all for it but am concerned from a health perspective of attracting rodents.

we have a 2 compost bins in our yard and haven't had any issue with pests, they both have locking lids and small vent holes, we compost year round and add more than probably most to them as we eat a lot of fruit and veg . i think back yard composting is the only way to go , it seems counter productive to have a diesel burning truck going around around to collect compost
