What happened to the Deer?

Just the bear facts please.
Last year in my Bankhead neighbourhood, residents were visited by many as 5 deer at a time.All shapes and ages.being vegetarians, they enjoyed munching on the Junipers, tomato blossoms and tulips, to the horror of some residents
This year, maybe one or two year olds.
Notice also a lack of birds of all species.
Crows, songbirds, with the odd magpie seem at a minimum
Nature changing? Or is there an anti wildlife cabal doing its work?

As for birds and bears, lots around our neighbourhood. Had a bear walking down the street this afternoon.
