I watched Don Cherry for all of my life while he was on TV. Does that make him a stuck up woke nothing? It sure don't make him right.

You watched a guy your whole life (so recently into Donny's old age) that you refer to as a person who "dodders". You also said he likes fighting, hates immigrants, and was mostly non-coherent.
Why watch him your whole life then and put him down on his way out?
Must be fun to be your friend lol.

Who didn't watch Hockey Night in Canada. You can use garbage rhetoric as a training tool to teach others how not to be.Sparki55 wrote: ↑May 27th, 2021, 2:50 pmYou watched a guy your whole life (so recently into Donny's old age) that you refer to as a person who "dodders". This is not the same thing as the Don thing.
His mistake was totally innocent in my opinion, and if the person he directed at isn't offended, and he isn't a person with any record of purposely offending people, perhaps some people are reaching too hard for the hurt button.

Re: Should Ron MacLean Be Fired
Ron McLean always tries to make some kind of pun or joke as he's exiting a segment. A flub like this was bound to happen. McLean's just so vanilla that I'm sure he didn't mean to insult anybody.
What I can't stand about Mclean is his name-dropping when he discusses somebodies background. He often gets names and places wrong, but he tries to come across as some kind of old family friend of so many people. He's a hubris fake.

Re: Should Ron MacLean Be Fired
Comparing MacLean to Cherry is like apples and oranges.
Whether you agree with Don Cherry's firing or not, the fact was that the sport was leaving both Cherry and Bob Cole behind. Cherry couldn't keep up with the changes in the game, while Cole couldn't keep up with the speed of the game.
Ron MacLean was trying to be funny with an inside joke about Kevin Bieksa that the outsiders didn't understand.

Hard to interpret MacLean's reaction/response to Cherry's predicament and firing, as anything but throwing his friend and colleague of many years, under the bus.... what goes around, comes around.

Re: Should Ron MacLean Be Fired
Canadians are becoming a bunch of snowflakes!
As Cherry was spoken of, his comment was directed to all Canadians. He never suggested a group of persons, and that was apparent to anyone who has watch him for many years. I personally didn't like Don on many levels although he knew hockey.
A comment that one has "his tarp off". Really, if he would have suggested he was something other then a man, you know where I'm going. He might have crossed the line.
He could just have easily suggested he was a "Leaf Fan" and who gives a ratz azz. He said nothing wrong.
Again after Ron pushed Don to the side and did not say, stop. Snowflake alert, he could have spoke up knowing what Don was suggesting although did not. I lost a lot of respect for McLean when he stepped back and hung Cherry out to be fired.
People today someone needs to say stop it already. If that comment offended you, so likely does the odd physical confrontation during a hockey game and maybe it's time you tune out!
