This was never a surprise just rehashing Old Wounds for in my opinion political gain.
Yes, the Truth and Reconciliation commission covered these unmarked graves back in 2016. Why is this suddenly "news" - and so "heart-breaking" that we have politicians bursting into tears on live TV over it? This is no surprise, at all. Yet it seems people are so desperate to have any excuse to hold marches, pull down statues and virtue signal on internet forums that there is nothing they won't do to seize on the opportunity to do so.
There's no such thing as gay rights, minority rights, trans rights or women's rights.

There are only individual rights. Either we all have the same rights, or we're just groups of special interests fighting for preferential treatment.

I'll speak for more than a few I'm sure, when I say I don't need to own anything except my own crap. I've got British, Irish, Norman and probably some Saxon in me as well. I don't own the crap some of them pulled either. I've been to the worst of the native reserves in Canada, if you've never been to the 'Land of Oz' then count yourself lucky. They are brutal places. We should be concentrating on giving those fellow Canadians a decent place to grow up and live.

It doesnt matter to me if you own it or not but the fact is, if you're Canadian, it's part of your heritage.

Not one but two clients have told me the same thing about their kids being in Catholic Schools: their kids bore the brunt of abuse unheard of in polite circles. They went to school in an age when the authority figure was believed and not the children. One white Germna client recently told me "my son is in his sixties and he remembers...even if he had told me I wouldn't have believed it". See, children lie, do not tell their truths - in the past.

One lady was French Canadian, said her kids were in a Catholic school in AB and one day sat her down and told her what went on. The pain and anguish in her telling me was clear and visible. "I would not have had my kids there if I knew." She likely did not know because they knew they would not be believed.

Both parents, years and years apart from each other, told me about their kids being abused in Catholic schools.

There is only one constant in these stories, Catholic. School.

Serious? I'm from Newfoundland and we weren't part of the country till 1949. Growing up in the '60s the rest of Canada was a vague impression that a teacher was talking about during geography lessons. We didn't know about what was happening at the Catholic orphanages until fairly recently.

It is not part of the heritage of every citizen, it is the history f the country.

It seems to me one of the objectives for those who would divide and conquer is to get rid of the competition. Religion is a direct competitor for who gets to rule.

Our government and the media are making hay with the gravesites. Their self-serving half-truths and omissions fan the flames of anger and throw fuel on the fire, and then they criticize others for the consequences.

They also said they didnt know where most of these unmarked graves were and since the commission estimated there were over 3 thousand kids died, I'm sure there will be more unmarked graves and of course as the right calls it....... "media frenzy"....and of course half truths.

I find the way the stories are being prevented to be inflammatory. It's almost as if the news is trying to create this into an issue for the election. From 2008 to 2015 The Truth and Reconciliation Commission looked into residential schools in detail paid out millions of dollars to people and in the final report there is an entire chapter dedicated to unmarked Graves and child deaths.

This was never a surprise just rehashing Old Wounds for in my opinion political gain.

I have got to give a lot of credit to those natives who have spoken so eloquently on the media. No hate, no pointing fingers, no dwelling on the past, just a sense of sadness.
At least, that applies to those I've seen.

As for this being part of our heritage, not sure what that implies or is insinuating.

"Lets not jump to conclusions. The early twentieth century was rife will deadly diseases and high child mortality rates. People were often buried at holy sites such as church grounds as well.
Lets wait until we get all the facts before we condemn. It isn't sexy or fun or cool to wait for all the facts these days but it is the right thing to do."

Yes...I totally agree but as usual it will get politicized and the truth will be hidden or ignored by anyone morally corrupt enough to take advantage of the situation.
