I tried catching those Scallops Alan,
They sent their crab friend after me :200: [icon_lol2.gif]

I went out paddling today and for first time in my life I was sharing the water with something considerably bigger than most people.
I caught the interest of some Seals.
I was honestly nervous and headed cloer to shore but they choose to watch me and follow me from a distance.
I had to ask someone who told me they may swim close but will never bother me.

Just don't wear a black wetsuit...they might think you are another skinny seal. Or worse a Killer Whale might mistake you for one.
Never argue with a fool as those watching might not be able to tell the difference.

Thank you Suds and Alan,
I do have a black and purple wetsuit here plus always wear a life jacket so I am probably safe.
All Black with the white boat would probably make me look like a Killer Whale

I had to cross to the main island for a couple hours today.
While there I decided to stop at Costco and I bought a single can of soup

In one episode of season 1 of the original Magnum PI Tom is running on the beach and you can hear his inner voice saying something about how living in paradise is different.
Explaining how everyone runs on the beach, and this and that.

As I was walking to the beach today I realized it has some truth about it.
Today is my sixth day here.
I have either walked or ridden my bicycle to the same beach and enjoyed every sunset since my arrival.
Here is tonight's 10 minutes ago
Image
I see the same people doing the same thing day after day and some tourists also coming out.
Today is my third day off. Guess how many times I have taken the kayak out and how many different beaches I have taken it to.

In addition the locals are already treating me as an insider and sharing some of their secret places.
It was no accident that I was paddling with the seals today.

However not everything is perfect in paradise.
Most people I have met so far are very Young adults or seniors.
I am guessing most people my age are working off island and only come home when they have a few days off.
That has sort of made it tough making friends :132:

If that changes and I start meeting others I may move here full time.
Between this job, the ice roads and my artwork I should have a living wage, which is all I care for.
If it doesn't work out I will probably return to the Boundary region and keep searching for my future home.
I have 2 months to decide, I signed a work contract ending on September 5th

Until that day I will enjoy every moment and hope I meet some amazing people my age.

There were around 100 people on this small beach enjoying the sunset tonight.

How many hours are you running per day Stu?

Just came across this thread.
Very interesting.

Good for you!

Thank you PopularSoul,
I am enjoying it. No commitment at home anymore makes it easy.

Yesterday I had a pleasant conversation with a couple parents here.
Their children recognized me and their parents want to thank me for keeping them safe.

This bus is a free service provided from a couple donations. It Only runs in the summer for now, but we are hoping to expand to year round in future.

Oh I am meeting several local artists and may have some gallery space next year.
Since my boat is a functional art piece I may also be making and selling them.
