CONs didn't want CERB, said Canadians wouldn't be vaxed 'til 2030

Post by crookedmember »

This is disgusting and childish coming from people we pay almost $1/4 million per year.
“It doesn’t matter what portfolio of vaccines that we have if Canadians can’t get it until 2030.” -Michelle Rempel [CPC, Oklahoma] November 25, 2020
Mar 8/20: Pierre Poilievre
is asked if he supports special measures in the March budget to help Canadians deal with COVID19 Pierre responds "You might want to address it with 'big fat government programs', we're Conservatives so we don't believe in that".

CERB would not have been necessary if we sent those who got or were susceptible to Covid out to isolated hospitals far away from major populations. Instead, we closed the economy down for the .006% of the population who were on their death bed already. The shutdown will cause us pain for decades to come.

Agree ckil . To the original poster. There's always more than one way to look at things. It's always best to try and look at them from different angles before getting upset

This thread is about Rempel's statement that Canadian's would not be vaccinated until 2030, and Poilievre's statement that Canadians don't deserve financial support.

It's not about wacky, unworkable schemes to send human beings to remote hospitals.

Michelle Rempel was stating the facts as she saw them at the time, based on the incredibly stupid and horrible performance of the idiot Liberal government, and our incompetent blithering idiot of a health Minister, Patty Hajdu. The Liberals performance during the Pandemic has been inexcusably bad. Just disgusting in fact.

And based on how crappy a job the Liberals were doing at the time, this assessment was extremely valid. The Liberal pandemic response just plain sucked.
and Poilievre's statement that Canadians don't deserve financial support.
I read the quote, and it appears that you are deliberately misrepresenting what PP said.

Who would say that isolating high risk people is "whacky"? Was this some Liberal comment? If so, it coincides with Liberal stupidity on the entire pandemic in general.

Does it make sense to disrupt the lives of 98% of the population for 2%? It would be very easy to set up isolation hospitals in small communities. Management is not your strength.

2030, Michelle? Really? What a stupid thing to say. It might have been 2030 had you been in charge of vaccine logistics, because it took you 6 months to figure out a way to get back from Oklahoma.

In spite of the Pfizer Belgium factory shutdown for retooling, the government didn't just meet all of its original targets, but beat them by wide margins to become the best in the world. We're now ahead of the US 85% to 65%.

So if the CPC is going to run on botched rollouts, good luck with that.

I expect this clip to play liberally in Liberal campaign ads. It perfectly illustrates how the CPC couldn't care less about ordinary Canadians, but never fails to find another tax credit for the wealthy.

If I were O'Toole, I wouldn't have just fired PP, I would have muzzled him to boot.

Where would we put these people, we don't have thousands of isolated nursing home beds , or isolated hospitals ready to accept hundred of patients, many needing ventilation. Who would serve these people, look after their very high health care needs? We barely have enough ICU nurses and doctors as it is, so which ones would be willing to go to a remote area to treat these patients? How would we get critical patients to these locations (especially in winter). Covid patients often present to hospital, and then quckly go down hil, so transporting critical care patients is not that simple either. Which doctors or nurses are willing to work on an air transport hospital with critical patients. We already have medivac life-flights which have gone down in the process, so why multiply these flights many times, just to get patients away from the population? then they would have to be transported back home once recovered, but possibly still needing medical care? Who pays for that?

All excellent questions. The suggestion wasn't thought through very well.

This kind of thinking is like why did we send troops to both ww1 & 2... since neither was anywhere near Canada.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

Some of y'all must think we're living in Russia and government can just snatch up civilians, doctors, nurses and support staff and send them to Siberia.

We have a Charter of Rights that prevents government from doing these things.

As popular as Putin is with conservatives these days, we're not there yet.

Given how stupid the Liberals were in November, this was actually an incredibly intelligent thing to say. Good job Michelle! We as Canadians are so lucky to have her and Pierre in government, holding the evil and awful Liberals to account. Keep up the great work CPC!

The movers and shakers in the Conservative party are elitists who don't want the masses to have access to services because that threatens their wealth. So they preach this free-enterprise survival of the fittest social Dawinism to convince themselves. Sadly, some of the middle and even the lower classes fall for the nonsense, even though it hurts them.
