Re: Inkaneep Creek (Black Sage Rd)
How close is it to osoyoos? It sure looked like it had moved to the south on castanet's live stream.

It's on the east side. North wind right now forecast to go south then north or light and variable tonight.
Also there has been property that is destroyed,

note:Though there were no permanent structures on site, Brown said they lost an RV, two boats and a homemade container home.

Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

Nope, not really. Especially not with the fuel conditions and fire weather we had going on yesterday. It looks like the initial fire run was closer to 10 k during the first burn window. Things didn't settle till the wee hours of the morning and then it picked right back up.rustled wrote: ↑Jul 20th, 2021, 10:38 amIs 7 km unusual for fire behaviour? It sure sounds like it was travelling unusually fast, but I've no idea what's common.Drip_Torch wrote: ↑Jul 20th, 2021, 2:49 am I narrowed this one down to the remote detections on the last MODIS pass. The view from space at 11:30 pm on *checks calendar* July 19th. Looks like Inkaneep did a 7 km march.

"Aggressive" - sure, but I wouldn't have expected anything less in these conditions.

Re: Inkaneep Creek (Black Sage Rd)
It was a very quick rate of spread. Weather indices are through the roof right now. Combine that with a grassland/open forest fuel type and heavy winds and we get what we saw yesterday.rustled wrote: ↑Jul 20th, 2021, 10:38 amIs 7 km unusual for fire behaviour? You can see some flames now on the live web cam, right above their blue advertising box bottom left corner.

Re: Nk'Mip Creek
Looks like stronger winds now have really hit the fire, last few minutes it exploded and is moving southward. On the live cam you can see what looks like fire trucks moving in to make a stand against the fire.

Ironic that the watermark watermark is obscuring the camera view
I have learned that to be with those I like is enough.

Unconfirmed but someone on twitter posted that the fire is heading up to Mt Baldy.
