Not 100% sure, but I believe they used the Express Post in my case. Did they give you a tracking #? I would phone them and ask.

Yes, got a notification but as i am at lake, then to kamloops probably cannot get parcel until Wednesday.

Did your modem quit too, barely used?
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

No, that's how they sent them to me when I purchased them. But honestly, I don't remember now if I picked them up in my mailbox, or I had to go to my local PO.

I was at home when modem first delivered but now can't remember if it was C Post or courier.

When i called their service rep the other nite the guy answering had a really thick Calcutta accent. He had to repeat 3x over before I could figure out what he was saying. [icon_lol2.gif]

Interesting, .. The last time I talked to them, it was a lady from Alabama. English being my second language, I really have hard time understanding people talking in the southern accent.

Well yeah, their office is in Burnaby and if they're working from home, they're just across the river [icon_lol2.gif]

Pretty sure you got Alabama confused with Alibabba [icon_lol2.gif]

I wish I could get someone on the phone from Alabama. Had to call someone in Houston a few years back, pretty sure that was the first time that I was officially addressed as "y'all" - it was awesome

As far as the "other accent", my wife is half Indian and she doesn't even understand these people half the time [icon_lol2.gif]

New (I hope) modem received, mailed the dud back. Assured my account will be adjusted for days lost.

The only downside (for me) is here I am, modding again.

Not an easy task ... I've been in your shoes. Never again.

Glad it's taken care of and actually a little surprised that they're reimbursing you for days of lost service. I tried to get Telus to do that for me once and they absolutely refused.

So, we had our service moved to the new place in Richmond. Everything was done remotely. They said they'll probably be a few days without service when they do the transfer, but there was no interruption. Everything went smoothly.

Do you also have a phone line with them? If so, can you take your phone modem with you to a new internet service (IP adddress) seamlessly? I have a cabin with internet (same provider - Lightspeed), but no phone line, nor do I need it permanently. Cell coverage sucks. If it's PnP, so that I can just take my existing modem with me and plug it into the router when I go up there, that would be awesome.

Phone? As in landline? Isn't that one of those things our grandparents used to have?

No, we just have the internet, no landline. You can use your old modem with them, if its compatible, IIRC there is a list of compatible devices on their website somewhere.

Hmmm, ... no, not the old fashioned landline. It's VOIP, and I find it handy in places where my cell coverage is poor. I also use it sometimes as a fax machine line. Rarely, but yes, these things are still around. For example, for some reason, our health insurance company accepts claims faxed to them only.
