So many questions, so little clarity.

If you post a question like that, expect the shotgun response you're getting.

Bottom line?

If you are under 35 with a young family headed to an opportunity of +$70,000 a year (Rockwool, Selkirk College or almost any government position) for 3 years and coming from an overpriced rental in a stupid expensive housing market...do it! Buy low, bank and don't spend your paychecks, don't :cuss: about small town mentality because you are sooooo worldly and at the end of 2 or 3 years decide if there any opportunity to stay and if you like it...stay. Or get the :cuss: out with money in the bank and a few check marks on your resume.
Everything I say to you is a lie. And that's the truth. Except this time.

Just like people living in the Kootenays, you'll find yourself driving to Kelowna all the time to get medical things done, deal with Government services and buy items beyond what the Dollar Store has to offer.
And Walmart.

Most GF residents who want unique shopping go to Spokane. Or did. Or come to Kelowna for the casino and shopping experience. My cousin knew more people at Orchard Park than I did.

In the time of Noah? Or do you mean a few years ago?
A few years ago. I dont think anything was resolved to prevent it again.

Are there any family doctors there that are taking patients?
With the widespread provincial shortage of doctors, that's one of the first things I would consider.
I'm posting this from Traditional lands of the British Empire & the current Lands of The Dominion of Canada.
I also give thanks for this ethos richness bestowed on us via British Colonialism.

Kelowna is not that far away. Can be a day trip back to Kelowna. Do a Costco shop or what ever. Than back to peaceful Grand Forks.

Couple of doctors were accepting new patients - article is dated July 12th so no idea if they still are.

This reminds me of when I lived in the south OK valley and Penticton was THE BIG CITY.

GF is in the middle of nowhere.

It's not snobby to say that.

It's literally the boonies.

If the OP’er has work lined up, then what’s the big deal. It nice little border town, my only suggestion is check out issues with spring flooding. Pick housing accordingly

The wife n I were really miffed when the old hotel burned down. It was a must stop for borsch n bread for lunch on the way to Spokane in the RV. A classic old relic if there ever was one. Aside from me [icon_lol2.gif]

Did you get plate number 1, 2, or 3? I forget which was the biggest but if one wanted a carbfest (of course, nobody thought that way back then) you would go there for the Russian food.
Or the Yale.

We recently moved from Kelowna to Grand Forks. We’re a middle aged couple approaching retirement. We lived in Kelowna for many years. We have not had a single regret in the 5 months that we have been here. As a youngster I spent my summers at Christina Lake, so the area is familiar. Dining choices are limited (shout out to the Wooden Spoon!), as are shopping choices, but we have personally not missed any of those things. Life is quiet, sirens are rare and parking is both plentiful and free everywhere.
We enjoy the outdoors in all seasons, and the area has much to offer. Depends on your personal preferences. Real estate is becoming increasingly expensive, and most new listings seem to sell fairly quickly. Kelowna was very good for us while we lived there. Besides family and friends, we don’t miss it a bit.

Cheers!
