15 days in a truck
https://www.castanet.net/news/Salmon-Ar ... -Armstrong
Does anyone else see something seriously wrong with this story?
The woman walked from Armstrong to Vernon to buy a cell phone, but could not get a ride to Sicamous to keep her trailer from being impounded? In 15 days, neither of them could not thumb a ride to Sicamous?
They bought a used barbeque and had a tent in the back of the truck?
She also walked all the way to Vernon to buy a cellphone so the couple could begin making calls to get out of their predicament, and had to walk into Armstrong daily to get fresh ice to keep what little food they had cold.
"My purse, everything, was still in the trailer," she said.
What woman leaves the house without her purse?
This whole story smells really bad.

This isn't their first rodeo - https://www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna/2 ... in-3-years
Also, Zoltan's heart surgery hasn't stopped him from uttering threats, assault, or breaking and entering. The BC Court Services Online has quite the lengthy record on him.

So many things wrong with this article. Like, you can't live in a 5th wheel over the winter without the regional district shutting you down. These guys just want sympathetic seniors scraping by to give them money. Also, why would they need to break a window to get in? That makes no sense.gardengirl wrote: ↑Aug 4th, 2021, 8:43 pm https://www.castanet.net/news/Salmon-Ar ... -Armstrong

Heartless scammers.
I did laugh about walking to Vernon as if there are no cell phones in Armstrong!

I like how they reframed the story too. Awww, more bad luck.
Trolling for a Go Fund Me I say.

And yep, the poor sick fella has a criminal record back to 2013.
Breaking and entering, uttering threats.
Castanet should pull this story and Jon Manchester should do a little research.
This is not a hard luck story, this is a SCAM.

Don't take my silence to mean I've agreed with you; I easily could've just lost interest in explaining how wrong you are.

Nope.
I agree that this story should be pulled from Castanet, or amended to include the charges above.

Re: 15 days in a truck
I believe that if Castanet were to publish his criminal record, they would open themselves up to a potential lawsuit.
Could be;
breach of privacy
slander
defamation of character
Even the post above, could be challenged in court as such. Not to the anonymous poster (of course they are protected), but to Castanet for publishing it.
NOT that the case would hold up in court, but there could be significant legal costs associated with a defense.
I feel that such an action would be fruitless in the end, but a new and aspiring, "ambulance chasing"/ lawyer could try for a settlement based upon a "Contingency Fee".

Re: 15 days in a truck
Court Services Online is in the public record, so why on earth would Castanet.net be sued to publishing it?

Because YOU posted it. Are you absolutely positive that person is the same one in the story?
How much effort does Castanet want to put into an investigation to make absolutely sure that they have all the facts perfect to bring a dark cloud over this man's life?
Now what might happen to his generous hostess that has given them shelter, shower, food? Will she change her mind about helping them if she reads Castanet forums and kick them to the curb again?

If he has allegedly threatened people according to the criminal charges laid against one Zoltan Husanik (born in 1964, according to the same court records), then she should be WARNED about him. JESUS.
