You used your 'private email address' for something, sometime, and it ended up on a list that was sold.
Same way the CPC got my 'private cell number' and keeps sending me texts from 'Patricia' asking "Can we count on your support? Reply Y or N."
Since there's no "Go bleep yourself, Patricia" option, I remain silent.
Answer N and they stop. If they don't then you would have some recourse. Otherwise YOU are your own problem.
Completely ridiculous.
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

Re: Liberal Party buying private email addresses?
Well, I got a response to my email, but not an answer to my question.
They apologized for sending me an unwanted email, explained my information was in their data base, and offered to remove it.
So I wrote back and said I’d appreciate their removing it, but would also like to know how it got there in the first place, because I have never provided that information to the Liberal Party.
Let’s see if they reply.

It's not just the Liberals who send out unsolicited e-mails and make unwanted phone calls.
We have received them from many different political venues. If you don't want them and it offends you then either ignore them or politely request them to stop.
If it continues then you have the grounds to complain. Unfortunately our Laws give a lot of leeway to political parties.

There are many ways that your email address could have been obtained. It could have been from someone you sent an email to that had a compromised computer. Once that happened it would end up on the dark web.Merry wrote: ↑Aug 7th, 2021, 2:04 pm Well, I got a response to my email, but not an answer to my question.

But is it appropriate for Political Partys to be encouraging that kind of activity by buying such information?Beerhunter341 wrote: ↑Aug 7th, 2021, 2:46 pmThere are many ways that your email address could have been obtained. I would argue that it most definitely is not!

The Liberal Party doesn't go to the dark web to buy email lists. They are available from legitimate sources.
You don't even know if they got it from a list. Perhaps one of your grandchildren signed you up. Maybe they're trying to convert you.
It's an email. You'll survive.

Our Government, or those that are hoping to form Government, should be doing what they can to try to PREVENT the buying and selling of personal information. NOT encoraging such activity by buying it themselves (from ANY source).

I wonder where both parties buy their voter info data from?

I got a second email saying they’d look into it, but then nothing since.Septuagenarian wrote: ↑Sep 4th, 2021, 12:46 pm Merry, I'm wondering what, if anything happened with my suggestion.
I thought it might be a good lead towards solving the riddle and answering the question for us.
