No, it's about the duty a country has to it's citizens, Trudeau does not understand his duty to country. Instead of looking after the interests of Canada and her Citizens, he greedily chases his political ambition. Anyone who wants to Prime Minister must be "Nation first", not "Me Me Me"foenix wrote: ↑Aug 26th, 2021, 6:02 pmAt some point it's about personal responsibility in getting you and the family out a dangerous and a collapsing situation. The Green Barbarian wrote: ↑Aug 26th, 2021, 5:32 pm

Who calls an election on the same day when thousands of Canadians are trapped in a foreign country, facing certain death and/or horrible torture?
Dont be surprised if someone stands in front of a hurricane and get swept away because they ignored and took action a little too late.
If there are any Canadians left after 7 years where Canada officially left, then that's called personal responsibility in getting one's tush out of there way before the last second and it falls on them to have done that. Any rationale Canadian should know that and it's only the partisan JT haters that usually throws any logic out in an effort to tag JT for something he was NOT involved in.

Someone who didn't bother to pay attention when Canadians and our allies in Afghanistan needed him to.The Green Barbarian wrote: ↑Aug 26th, 2021, 5:32 pmrustled wrote: ↑Aug 26th, 2021, 4:11 pm
You said it, GB.
So apparently Trudeau's apologists want us to believe Harper should have somehow gotten all dictatorial on any Canadians or Afghani allies who who didn't want to leave Afghanistan in 2011-2014, and forced them to leave Afghanistan in 2011-2014 even though they didn't want to. Just in case, you know, Afghanistan became too risky a place for them to live and work and visit at some point in the future.
Apparently Harper should have known that in the future, we would have a Canadian government too stupid or too callous or too oblivious to the risk people living and working and visiting family in Afghanistan were facing to help them leave Afghanistan in a timely fashion.
How stupid do these Trudeau apologists think Canadians are?
We can see who dropped the ball on this. We know the current government wasn't paying attention. We know Trudeau's promise to take in 20,000 refugees in no way makes up for his government neglecting to do their job.![]()

It was obvious the situation in Afghanistan had changed drastically over the course of a few weeks. The Trudeau government failed to take the situation seriously - typical of him and his unserious, play-acting government.
It's reprehensible for his apologists to blame those who have been trying to cut through the red tape over the past few weeks. They continue to make it obvious Canadians cannot ever, under any circumstances, expect Trudeau to take his responsibilities to any of us seriously.

It's cute that you think this happens.
20,000+ where the VAST MAJORITY don't speak English well (if at all), have limited skill sets and who are depending on US to take care of THEM... and yet they're magically going to support ME 10 years from now? Ha.
If these were actual immigrants with education, technical skills and/or resources to come here legally and contribute to our way of life... then sure, come on in. These are poor people being saved, coming with nothing and will still be poor here.
And for those who call me mean, jaded or racist... it's quite simply a "we can't save everyone" mindset. There are literally hundreds of millions who need to be saved in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. This situation is no more dire than those in Venezeula, Somalia, Yemen or Syria right now.
Why Afghani's but not these other people literally having civil wars in 2021?

That would have been in 2014 when all of Canada got out of Afghanistan. Where was that guy? Oh yeah callous telling those same allies, "nope, we paid you guys already and you knew the risks".....so there will be no more allowed into Canada......that guy?

Strictly to deflect from his neglect of Canadians and our allies in Afghanistan who were trying to get out over the past few weeks as the situation in Afghanistan deteriorated, and couldn't get the Trudeau government to expedite the process.fvkasm2x wrote: ↑Aug 26th, 2021, 6:22 pmIt's cute that you think this happens.foenix wrote:Great we need more immigrants to replenish our working classes to support them in their retirement. Either Trudeau had no clue the process needed to be expedited, or he chose to ignore his responsibility.
Either way: massive fail.
But hey, he's promising to bring in 20,000 refugees to make up for his failure.

Yes that's exactly what's going to happen exactly like how other immigrants have done in this country......perhaps even your own sometimes in the past. Study upon study have shown this to be true. Those same Afghani will become future Canadians and contribute to our society. It's not like Canada can sustain any future economic growth without immigrants because we dont produce enough of our own to sustain future growth or have the ability to take of our elderly in the future.

If it's a massive fail, then I guess with the exception of the US and maybe the UK, it's everyone’s failurerustled wrote: ↑Aug 26th, 2021, 6:30 pmStrictly to deflect from his neglect of Canadians and our allies in Afghanistan who were trying to get out over the past few weeks as the situation in Afghanistan deteriorated, and couldn't get the Trudeau government to expedite the process.fvkasm2x wrote: ↑Aug 26th, 2021, 6:22 pm

No rational person would believe this hogwash nonsense, that Canadians and their allies who needed help from the Trudeau government in 2021 didn't get the help they needed in 2021 from the Trudeau government "because 2014".
Oh, but Trudeau says we'll take 20,000 refugees - as though that'll make up for the Trudeau government's failure.

Not buying it. JT did well to get 3700 refugees out of a difficult situation compared to our other allies who did even worse......so great job JT in your effort. To bad about the callous attitude of the other guys tho or more of them would have been here in the 7 years that went in between our final pull out from Afghanistan. The Green Barbarian wrote: ↑Aug 26th, 2021, 6:41 pmKatie - enough. And you know a Canadian government official will be there at the airport to hand them their winter jackets and if they have proof of killing any Canadian or American soldiers, a cheque for $10 million as well.

Probably not, it's not free anymore. The only thing that plane would load is bunch of poppies for resale and not Afghanis.

The "20,000" deflection shield doesn't seem to be working very well:
Trudeau's apologists seem to be the only ones willing to pretend it wasn't Trudeau's responsibility to meet the needs of Canadians and our allies in crisis in Afghanistan.
https://www.castanet.net/news/Canada/34 ... gn-effortsTrudeau called it a "very difficult day" but said Ottawa's commitment to resettle more than 20,000 Afghans in Canada and support residents in the war-torn region will continue.
"Our engagement with Afghanistan is not done. Yes, this phase of the emergency air bridge facilitated by the Americans until they pull out finally has been important and has been something we've been in wholeheartedly over the past many weeks," he said.
"This particular moment is done and it's heartbreaking to see, but there is much more to do, and Canada will continue to be there for Afghans and Afghan people."
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said Canada's exit was a "failure."
"Many veterans have raised concerns around the process being too complicated, requiring access to the internet when many people didn't have it, and just not meeting the needs of people in a crisis," he said in Winnipeg, where he highlighted the NDP's pledge on housing.
"It's with a heavy heart that we now see thousands of our allies, people who put their lives at risk to support our troops, are now being left behind."
