^^^. Haha, thought you’d made a rare spelling error. Kermadec is in NZ. Rest easy now.
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

The news reports seem to have downgraded the magnitude compared to your link (the info there still reads 6.0). Significant damages:
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of at least 5.8 struck the Greek island of Crete on Monday, killing one person and injuring several others, while damaging homes and churches and causing rock slides near the country's fourth-largest city.

(BTW: thanks again for maintaining this list. I find it quite interesting to follow.)

According to USGS it’s still at 6.0, if they had downgraded it the link would have updated magnitude.

So more likely, the news story used an early report that hadn't been updated to 6.0? ETA: checked the story to see if they'd updated it, and realized I had glossed past the "at least" that was indeed in the news story when I'd quoted it. Very poor reading on my part. Thanks again.
