Jagmeet offers free dental

Post by wascobi »

I can't imagine any dentists will be happy about this. you just know the ndp will roll out a fee schedule thats not even close to what dentists make now. so can dentists top up the bill? or can you bypass the system? hey wait! wouldn't this be a two tier system that everyone is raging against O'Toole for?

Came on here to state the very same thing, a two-tier system. [icon_lol2.gif]

So two tiered Healthcare has beensuch an evil idea but doing the same for dental is good? Wish ndp could make up their minds.

Plus he gets to fund it all Robin hood style, not on income just take stuff if you have stuff tax.

Paid for by our taxes.
I saw a previous post somewhere regarding the increase in taxes puts a dent in disposable income. Disposable income that will pay for mortgages for all these houses the political parties want to provide.
NDP just don't seem to be able to do math.

Don't forget free prescriptions too.

Heck, we all may as well have Cuba adopt Canada and we can all live under a Commie regime.

We need to start dismantling these expensive socialist programs. Look at the mess that Medicare has made in Canada with our taxes going to fund the poor. We're supposed to be a free-enterprise nation. If you can't afford medicine or surgery, guess what? You just won't get it!. Get a job.

At one time way back BC Medical covered glasses & dental.

It was removed and extended medical plans took over or patients had to pay out of pocket.

Last year had a root canal... without extended medical it would have cost me around $3,000 (if that was the case I probably opt for extraction).

My experience as a senior; it costed me about $25,000.00 for ONE tooth implant. First didn’t take, second did, but cost of warding off infection and costs that entailed almost put me in the workhouse, Charles Dicken’s style

Aged as I am, only ONE cavity in 7 decades, however, ONE tooth gone astray could see the Lamborghini vanish from your future.

Spent a fortune ensuring my teeth were well taken care of throughout my life, did my diligence, and STILL got stuck with enormous bills that has hampered travel to Japan (the only place worthy of my presence).

No wonder dental tourism is so popular. It ties to the cost of living so places like Poland, Hungary, Costa Rica have great pricing and usually just as good or better technology and standards. A free vacation with dental work!

I see Jagmeet is offering free stuff again, and giving me the bill :-)

Dental care IS health care. It absolutely should be covered. Not for cosmetic procedures of course.

Weird, taking care of your teeth is free, and people don't do that either. You don't run into problems like cavities (not super expensive) or root canals (expensive!) just for no reason. You usually have a crappy diet, eat sugary stuff, and don't brush/don't floss and boom - you have a dental problem.

Option 1: you go to the dentist and pay the bill to fix your tooth. Maybe you have a dental plan at work that covers some of that cost for you.

Option 2: you go to the dentist and get your tooth fixed. Dentist applies to government bureaucracy that must tax you for the cost of the repair, the cost of collecting your taxes, the cost of funds transfers from general revenue to health care to dental sub-ministry, the cost of processing the claim, the cost of paying the dentist, the cost of auditing the dentist's claims, and the cost of maintaining your dental records in a government database.

So instead of paying $300 to get that filling, you want to pay the government 2 or 3 times that amount in taxes to pay the bill for you through a hugely inefficient bureaucracy. Brilliant!
