Re: Vax Passport tip
Now you’ve got me worried, wondering whether my vax passport will work or not. I downloaded it to my laptop, took a screenshot to send to my tablet, and then printed the screenshot from my laptop.
Do you guys think the paper copy I printed out will work?
What about the electronic copy I sent to my tablet?

Thanks to you both for the reply.
"Taking a picture of a printout would have a better chance of working, but better would be to download it with your phone connected to wifi and take a screen shot of that (power button plus volume down usually)."
Actually, my computer is on WIFI which was on, when I was on the computer and took a pic of the screen vacc passport with my android cell. The "power button plus volume down" comment has me REALLY scratching my head. I'm totally lost.
my5cents: thanks for that info. Wish I had done that differently.
and to merry, who just posted. Maybe drop in to a quiet restaurant and have them check it? before you need to be there for lunch, just to try it out?
If I can find my photo of the vaccine passport on my COMPPUTER pic files again, I can try to print a hard copy of it, which the government website indicated would always be accepted everywhere. As long as we don't fold across the QR part.
Thanks everyone. I had no idea what the heck I was doing, so naturally, shouldn't be too surprised it bombed.

Re: Vax Passport tip
I loaded my QR code on my PC, took a "screen shot" (button reads "print screen", which copies it) I copied that to a Photoshop program and cropped it, and saved the cropped picture as a jpg and sent it to my phone. It worked at the pub, just fine.Merry wrote: ↑Sep 17th, 2021, 4:25 pm Now you’ve got me worried, wondering whether my vax passport will work or not. . . . which isn't going to do them any good if they don't have their friends photo ID to go with it when they enter a place that requires the vax card

Re: Vax Passport tip
The QR code contains the name of the recipient of the Vax Passport. The face of the BC Vaccine Card may say the fake name, but the contents of the QR code will have the real name come up on the app at the facility.

No, they're saying they took "John Smith's" Vax Passport with "John Smith" on the face, then altered the name on the face to "Bill Jones", thinking that will fool the facility. When Bill Jones tenders the QR code, the facilities app will come up with "John Smith".

If you have the BC Service Card app and log in to Health Gateway, you can access the card (and any other records) any time. I just tried so I could see if it was there and at the same time save an 'extra' copy to my laptop - no problem, it is there. But I also understand not everyone has the BC Service Card app.my5cents wrote: ↑Sep 17th, 2021, 3:32 pm
You raise some good points. I'm not a computer dinosaur but when I obtained my QR code, I had concerns that others would have trouble.
I expected I could access my Vax Passport over and over if required. But as you say one apparently can not. I just tried to re-load my Vax Passport on the government site and got "Not Found". Of course being the government there was lots and lots of helpful hints to walk you through any problems N O T ! Wouldn't a warning be in order ?? WARNING YOU MAY ONLY ACCESS YOUR VAX PASSPORT ONE TIME.

True - I was more envisioning a scenario where a restaurant, etc. would just 'look' at the passport together with ID (and not actually scan the QR code with the app).my5cents wrote: ↑Sep 18th, 2021, 10:07 amNo, they're saying they took "John Smith's" Vax Passport with "John Smith" on the face, then altered the name on the face to "Bill Jones", thinking that will fool the facility. Re: Vax Passport tip
It may turn out most places are just looking at it, not scanning it.
This still seems more about managing public perception (perhaps with unintended consequences) and forcing compliance with the vaccine than it seems to be about protecting public health and safety.

Re: Vax Passport tip
Yours should work fine- you took a screenshot, so there won’t be any pixelation of the QR code.Merry wrote: ↑Sep 17th, 2021, 4:25 pm Now you’ve got me worried, wondering whether my vax passport will work or not. Re: Vax Passport tip
As for facilities not scanning the QR codes, that's were the government comes in. Not hard to drop into a restaurant, present yourself and see if they scan your QR code, needs to be a huge fine, and second offence, bye bye business license.
Just have to establish to the facilities that the government means it.
It works for the Government Liquor Act, licensed premises know if they don't check ID's their liquor license is toast.
If the rule isn't enforced that's on the government.
