I saved a copy of the Vaccine Passport on Microsoft Word then resized it and printed it. It was successfully scanned at a local restaurant.

I think my reply was reasonable, as it seem you were missing the point that being vaccinated doesn't 100% guarantee that one won't contract Covid-19 BUT the degree of risk is reduced, thus if one hasn't contracted Covid-19 they can't spread what they don't have.

So apparently you figured I was missing the point you wanted to make, and perhaps you still do.

If you'd still rather "school" me about how the vaccines work than discuss the fact that our elderly parents are out among the unvaccinated and the vaccinated where they access essential services, while the folk hanging out at the bar are only mingling with the vaccinated, bear in mind that whether you know better than I do how these vaccines work is not likely to be a matter of interest to anyone here - including me. We all, I think, understand by now that the vaccine reduces risks for most of us but is no guarantee of anything. So:

I'm no expert, don't pretend to be, but I do know enough to see that these vaccine passports are less about protecting Ma and Pa from covid than they are about making Junior get vaxxed.

Only need Vaccine Passport for following:

The requirement applies to all people born in 2009 or earlier (12+) and covers:

>Indoor ticketed sporting events with more than 50 people
>Indoor concerts, theatre, dance and symphony events with more than 50 people
>Licensed restaurants and cafes and restaurants and cafes that offer table service (indoor and patio dining), including liquor tasting rooms in wineries, breweries or distilleries
>Pubs, bars and lounges (indoor and patio dining)
>Nightclubs, casinos and movie theatres
>Gyms, exercise/dance facilities/studios and these activities happening in recreation facilities
>Businesses offering indoor exercise/fitness
>Indoor adult group and team sports for people 22 years old or older
>Indoor organized events with more than 50 people
For example: wedding and funeral receptions (outside of a funeral home), organized parties, conferences, trade fairs and workshops
>Indoor organized group recreational classes and activities with more than 50 people like pottery, art and choir
>Post-secondary student housing
>Spectators at indoor youth sporting events with more than 50 people

Note: Proof of vaccination is not required to vote in-person in the September 20 federal election.

So it looks like the smaller workshops run by volunteers are exempt.

1-833-838-2323, 7am to 7pm, translators available. For those using this option:

• - Have your BC health card and your vaccine card ready.
  
  - It took me about a minute on hold and a minute talking to the person who picked up.
  
  - The paper copy will arrive in the mail in seven to ten days. Your vaccine card will get you through the door for a few more days.

The other option is

Print a copy at a Service BC office
You can print a copy of your card at most Service BC offices. Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey locations don't offer printed copies​.

We tried to get a Vax passport mailed to a 92 yr old friend and called the 800 #.

They were less than helpfull. They would not do anything without talking to him. He is almost totally deaf and can't talk on the phone.

You would think that if it was being mailed to his registered address that it wouldn't be so hard to get done.

I was out and about all weekend and have to say things looked pretty "normal" and I saw no sign of us now living in a segregated society. There were people EVERYWHERE... just like there was prior to the vaxxports going into effect.

This whole "segregation" narrative seems to fall apart when you leave the house and have a look around.

Also, I still haven't used mine once yet (other than trying out the scanning app myself).

It's odd, isn't it? Also, if you go to Service BC to get one for a child, you have to bring your child.

Video Relay Services (VRS) provides sign language interpretation free for registered deaf, hard of hearing or speech-impaired people.

It looks to me like they'd need a video hookup, which might defeat the purpose.

Your friend might have to go to a Service BC - which seems counterintuitive, given the unvaxxed get to be there, too ;)

When I had to renew my DL, there was no lineup at Service BC and only one person was waiting ahead of me. Don't go outside school hours, though, cuz that's when they are busiest with new drivers.

While it's not my place to convince others to see what they seem to prefer not to see, it seems to me that to not "see" any sign of segregation, we'd have to purposefully ignore how the vaxport is fully intended to keep unvaccinated people out of non-essential services in order to give what Horgan calls "a sense of comfort" to those who are enjoying those non-essential services. I realize for some, this won't meet their preferred definitions of "segregation" or "scapegoating".

He needs a walker to get around and it's difficult for him to wait in line. They don't make it easy for people with disabilities and considering you need other ID to use it what's the big deal!

I printed one off with his info but the size is not conducive to being carried in a wallet. If you fold them they will not scan.

We will give him that one. He will probably never need it bur he feels better having one.

A few people have posted tips for downsizing the paper print-out to make it more portable. I think I'll test it somewhere before I try to use it anywhere I'm counting on going.
