Joel Fuhrman talks about whole foods for all diseases.
Thinktank this would mean you would have to give up what you said was prefect food... Pizza.

Dr Fuhrman is right on about diet being the way to treat disease. My doctor told me to eat healthy but never said what that means.
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes some 20 years ago and was told that it is a chronic progressive disease that would end with losing limbs, eyesight, kidney failure and heart disease. I was given Metformin and then after a while more and then more until finally I was shooting up lots of insulin every day. When my arteries started getting clogged and required some heart surgery I decided that the doctors did not serve me very well and I should take charge of my own health. Which I did by educating myself. I spent hours on youtube and read several books and tried to separate the bs from gems but I think I have it figured out now.
Prof Robert Lustig thinks that sugar is the main culprit which, just like alcohol, causes fatty liver disease and is appearing in children of 6 &7 years old that eat too much junk food. Sugar sweetened soft drinks being the worst. Coca Cola was my drink of choice for years, so I probably had a fatty liver which in turn affected my metabolic health which then surfaced as diabetes and then heart disease. What I did was really simple (but not so easy to do) and that was to quit eating carbs. No sugar, no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, fruit, or anything that comes in a can or package. I am doing a Keto diet and the results are astounding.
My blood sugars are normal and am off all drugs. I feel really good with more energy and all aches and pains have gone.
Diabetes is not a disease that needs to be cured. It is a condition caused by bad food whose solution is simple. Stop the "bad" food.
The real problem is knowing which foods to avoid and which to eat. Corporate food producers are not interested in your health just profit. Most doctors don't have much of a clue about food and I haven't much faith in dietitians ether.

GO BACK ON THE METFORMIN IMMEDIATELY!

Without Metformin, you might even be endangering all of us.

Perhaps discussed already, but a big precursor to T.2 diabetes is overweight.
In particular not surface fat but viseral fat below, which places tension on the organs, in particular the pancreas which produces insulin.
Then comes high blood pressure.
Figures in the U.S. reveal that upwards of 70% of patients hospitalized with Covid are overweight have high b.p. and are diabetic.
North Americans are addicted to junk food that the producers keep churning out to keep us addicted.
Ever check the fat and calorie content in a Big Mac? or the salt content on the D.Q. menu? How about the sugar content
in A&W root beer.Oh, it's cane sugar. Doesent matter. It is still sugar.

Well I am certainly not going to take advise from on anyone in this forum. Diabetes is defined by excessive sugar in the blood. My blood sugars are normal, therefore I no longer have diabetes. Why on earth should I go back on any drug?

Really! That's one of your most ignorant statements ever, and you've had many! Where did you get your medical degree?

Metformin can damage the kidneys and if his blood sugars are in a normal range he does not need any medication!

I understand what you were trying to do with this post, but you kinda failed.

Most doctors have been telling people for a very long time to cut processed sugar out of their diets. And there are a lot of credible studies showing sugar is just about the worst thing you can consume... it's likely many times worse than salt and fat.

Our understanding of how the human body processes food and the effect different foods have on us is becoming greater and greater. That's the beauty of science... it isn't static. It constantly searches for new information and adapts as that information is understood.

In the case of keto, the long-term effects aren't well understood (both good and/or bad), but it works wonders for a lot of people. I've also had some pretty great results from it.

Just so people know, you can also develop/have diabetes without being overweight. i.e. even some slim people have trouble with high blood sugars. There are also plenty of overweight people who never develop diabetes.

Processed Carbs are just as bad if not worse than sugar for diabetics.

White bread will send my blood sugars higher than a chocolate bar.

Stay away from processed foods as much as possible but like my Dr tells me you can't stop eating.

Moderation is a good policy.

Diabetes is strictly caused by poor diet. 99% of disease is caused by diet, stagnant blood and lymph fluid.

You got a response because you failed miserably at trying to make this about COVID.

Back to topic…

I’m all in on keto though. My energy levels have been improved and are very consistent, I don’t get “hangry” if I go awhile without eating, and I feel like I sleep better.

Being an anti-inflammatory diet, it’s also recommended for people with all kinds of health issues.

No, it isn't. There are types of diabetes caused by autoimmune condition, look up LADA, it is often mistaken for type 2 diabetes.
What about the overweight people who have a diet like many others but never develop diabetes? Diabetes only affects maybe 20% of the population (if they live long enough), but probably 40% of the population is overweight. Why don't they deveop diabetes? So if you think you understand diabetes, you don't. Ever heard of Type 1.5 Diabetes? Type 2 diabetes can also have an autoimmune component to it.

Who said poor diet and a toxic lifestyle would cause the identical result in all humans. Many people have reverse diabetes with changing their diet and exercising. Most people are lazy and cannot eat real food with simply seasoning. They add toxic chemicals with refined sugars on top of their food, and that's if they even are willing to change their diets. Most aren't. It's funny that many people won't change their diets and lifestyle to guaranteed improve their health yet healthy people are supposed to risk their lives to protect them. Pretty selfish people. Just like wealthy people are greedy for not wanting to give away their hard earned money but it's not selfish to want to take money from others who worked for it. Backwards society.

What you DID say is "Diabetes is strictly caused by poor diet" which is obviously not true. Think of the infants and children and genetics.
