All Things Bernier

Post by roseridge »

Despite a relatively slow start, it appears Maxine Bernier's People's party is gaining a lot of traction, if the rally on the weekend downtown is any indication. The Conservatives took a U-turn on the carbon tax, and have let law abiding gun owners down by reversing course on the dictate in council issued by the Lieberals. Who is left - Maxine Bernier's People's party - which seems to be gaining steam with many disaffected Conservative voters.

Maxime would have better served the country by remaining in the CPC. Every party needs a conscience. :smt045

Yes, but he lost to Andrew Scheer. The Conservative party has become just a less corrupt version of the Liberal party, and Erin O'Toole is looking weak in the eyes of his base of supporters - flip-flopping on the gun issue, and on Carbon tax. You betray your base of supporters during an election, people will look elsewhere - and Maxine Bernier's Party is the one that stands to gain. Disqualifying Jim Karahelios and kicking Derek Sloan out of caucus did not sit well with some of the conservative base.

Get real, there isn’t a far-right Conservative base with any serious numbers, Berniers number last election prove that. However I do believe there’s a sizeable number of Canadians that are just barely right of centre, that are more than willing to vote Conservative. O’Toole is intelligent enough to understand that if the CPC has any hope in hell of ever forming government it’s Canadians in the centre-centre right that he needs to appeal to, not the far right. Don’t forget that despite the Liberals winning the most seats in 2019, the CPC won the popular vote. O’Toole will have zero problems hanging onto that popular vote, and it’s now looking as though he’s going to greatly add to those numbers, eliminating Trudeau... which is the prime objective.

Bernier will get far fewer votes than current polling indicates.

A vast majority of people polled who say they support Max will realize that the only way to eliminate the prevaricating, corrupt commie Justin Trudeau is to support the CPC.

If only he had the rest of his party on board with that. We'd all be well served if a few of the diehard right-wingers in
the party would defect to join Bernier. That might give the Cons a real chance at becoming a right-centrist party.

O’Toole has shown repeatedly that he’s absolutely terrified of alienating far right voters, which is why he flip flops on so many commitments on a daily basis. It’s no wonder Bernier is attracting so much support - he’s the only right wing party with a consistent message. It really shows how far the CPC has fallen under O’Toole when he’s losing so much support to Bernier.

But let’s be honest - Bernier just saw how under-represented the anti-vax crowd was and ran with it. Simple opportunism, but unlike O’Toole at least he is consistent. And anyone thinking Bernier hasn’t capitalized on anti-vaxxers support is wearing thick partisan blinders, likely blue ones.

Such lovely people, these former conservatives.

CTV reporter received messages saying she should be sexually assaulted and killed for questioning Bernier

Twitter restricted People's Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier's account, preventing him from posting any new messages for 12 hours after he used the platform to encourage his supporters to "play dirty" with journalists covering his campaign.

The offending tweets singled out three reporters, calling them "idiots" and describing their efforts to question him as "disgusting smear jobs." Bernier tweeted out their email addresses and encouraged his followers to "play dirty."

CTV journalist Christy Somos responded to the attacks online. In a tweet describing "what your inbox looks like after Bernier tweets about you," Somos posted a screenshot of a threatening email she was sent.

In that email, someone who appears to be a PPC supporter says that they hope Somos is sexually assaulted and murdered and encourages her to kill herself.

The PPC should be deemed a domestic terrorist organization. Just another of the many similarities to the far right maga domestic terrorists south of the border.

The PPC may not be a force in the urban areas where the CPC has to pick up seats if they ever hope to win even a minority again.

But what about Hooterville, the Conservative's stompin' ground where 95% of their seats are?

Tiny O'Toole and the CPC should be terrified.

Business in the front. Party in the back.

Hooterville? What does this even mean? This riding is in Manitoba, not "Hooterville", whatever that is.

Congrats to Candice Bergen on winning again, good job!! She's fantastic.
