Man kills Cougar defending dog ( Warning..it's a very harsh video)

Post by W105 »

this happened on Bear Creek Main near Vernon BC...a cougar attacked a 3 legged Lab, the Dog Owner took a club and a machete to the cougar to save his dog...he ended up chopping it's head off...sadly the dog passed away from it's injuries..

the Cougar was starving because it had several festering Porcupine quills in it's mouth and paws..

sad situation all around

Saw this vid last night on facebook. Glad extra information has been added to explain why the camera man appears to make no effort to warn others (was already done).

Sad situation all around. Really wish the dude camping had put his dogs into the trailer or a vehicle until the danger had passed. Hindsight is 20/20

There was a news item not too long ago where a young man lost his dog to a cougar (Island maybe?) and the poor owner couldn't hold onto his dog or fight off the cat.

Cougar found resting at the side of the road

Post by pilsung123 »

Very sad that emaciated cougars, starving to death, are seen by the side of a road, here in the Okanagan. Is it because of the recent forest fires that have killed all of the food chain. Meanwhile, the beheading of a cougar is no prize worth bragging about by anyone ?

I saw three coyotes in Glenrosa, a few years ago, walking down my street.

They were like the cougar, emaciated and thin and had not eaten anything in weeks.

Deer are also impinging and feeding in human neighborhoods. They are an everyday occurance?

It's interesting how us human beings are well fed, yet, the animal kingdom is virtually starving to death !

What are we going to do about this ?

Your thoughts.

There is no way to know for sure if this is the same cougar but the unnamed hunter says he was concerned for the animal at the time and he contacted the BC Conservation Officer Service to make them aware of the animal

Considering it's got quills in it's jaw I'd say yes.

Very sad to a beautiful animal look like that.

Heartbreaking isn't it. I feel sorry for the ones that took the picture too. Difficult situation in every way.
