Saw them on this web site in Salmo, BC https://canadiantreenursery.com/product ... strawberry but think more garden centres will have them come next spring/summer season.

Found another in Grand Forks, BC https://www.bronandsons.com/products/li ... erry-38791
that have them listed

I moved my blueberries yesterday, to a sunnier location. Feeling very sore today :digging:

I still need to get my strawberries from containers to the garden bed to over-winter.

I moved mine two years ago. They did OK last summer and then this year this hit them and I lost all the new growth along with a couple of the plants.

Ouch!

bb49, do you mulch your blueberries? My neighbour's pine drops a ton of needles. I've read mixed reviews on using them as mulch but the plants seem to be doing okay with it so I did it again when I moved it.

I got my strawberries in the ground yesterday, yay! I'm definitely going to need more containers for the spring.

Now to get my dahlias dug up/stored. Possibly later today? Maybe.

Probably this weekend we'll be taking down our hazelnut trees. They're the reason that I moved the blueberries in the first place. They were completely shading the berries. I am removing them because in the 4 years I've had them, I've gotten a total of 4 hazelnuts off them. Bloody squirrels. Plus we need to put a shed in the spot.

I had to move my blueberries for a similar reason. My neighbour planted cedars across the fence from mine and not only did they shade my bushes but his cedars were sucking the water from around the blueberries. I had a drip line on them.

As for mulching, I use Douglas fir shavings and heap it up around them every year or two.

And thanks for the reminder regarding the dahlias. I planted them last year for the first time and they are all out in full bloom now, after surviving the extreme heat.
Also, when is the best time to dig them up? They currently have about 20 or 30 flowers on them.

The most recent article I read said to get them when the leaves turn yellow. Someone in the gardening group had a whole list of how to deal with them - it seemed like a lot of work. I just dig them up, cut off the stalks, stick them in a paper bag I've labelled with colour and size, then put the paper bags in a heavy-weight plastic bag and store in the basement. This other lady added steps for anti-fungal powder and storing in hamster shavings plus she went on about dividing them as well. Looking more and more like this will be a weekend thing for me.

Thanks Lady.
Mine were hit by frost last night, leaves are black.
With a lot of yard and garden work on the agenda, the dahlias should be dug up in a week or two.
BTW, are the pronounced "dollias" or "daylias"
