To calm your fears, I had a Root Canal!
I am the biggest baby ever when it comes to Dentists. Didn't help I actually made it all the way to page 3 of Google and root canals ( shudder)
Wasn't bad, kinda like having a filling. Very back 37.. so sore jaw from having my mouth so open. Counting x rays ( before and after) and the procedure it was 1 hour and 15 mins. Felt a bit punk after the freezing wore off, it was sore that evening and the first morning, but my noon yesterday I felt pretty good ( tad weary in the afternoon but then I had a crap sleep.
Today I feel fine - no swelling ( touch wood) no bruising
So if you are putting off having one rest assured not nearly as bad as you fear

They're not bad, especially if you have a good dentist and tell them you're nervous so they take it easy.

Just do it like Bman ...-downs a bottle of Balvenie and a bunch of T-3's and does her own dental work.
Some may view my politically incorrect opinions as harsh and may be offended by them. Some think political correctness will be our undoing.

Thankfully dentists don't offer both services....yet anyway.

I avoided a root canal years ago and opted for the cheaper and quicker tooth removal, no such luck with the colonoscopy though, got my 2 year follow up one next month.

Guy sitting on table after colonoscopy, still in gown, nurse walks in and asks, "who was that"?
Praise the lord and pass the ammunition

2 years? When I had mine, they told me next one would be in 5 years. Told them that was fine with me.dodgerdodge wrote: ↑Oct 9th, 2021, 2:02 pm no such luck with the colonoscopy though, got my 2 year follow up one next month.![]()

Cheaper just to pull it... with root canal tooth is essentially dead and usually with X years needs to be be pulled anyway.normaM wrote: ↑Oct 9th, 2021, 9:37 am I am the biggest baby ever when it comes to Dentists. Same response from my doctor too. Maybe he was sympathetic with my opinion of the crapola one has to drink prior to the procedure.oneh2obabe wrote: ↑Oct 9th, 2021, 2:25 pm2 years? I'm with Gordon, if it's in the back of the mouth yank the damn thing. Dentists are amazed when they do the "just going to numb the area and the needle might hurt" spiel. Told them no problem - don't feel anything. Then it's the "you might experience some pain when the freezing comes out in 4 or 5 hours". Nope. Only problem is trying to drink coffee when the mouth is still frozen.normaM wrote: ↑Oct 9th, 2021, 9:37 am I am the biggest baby ever when it comes to Dentists. Try and drink anything while the cotton is still and you can't feel it.oneh2obabe wrote: ↑Oct 9th, 2021, 5:09 pm I'm with Gordon, if it's in the back of the mouth yank the damn thing. Had at least 3 root canals over the years but all were eventually pulled cause they are a dead tooth. Save yourself the pain of numerous visits as root canals are 2 or 3 visits. Yank that sucker out. Got a partial denture now due to missing upper and lower molars on opposite sides. Had my first colonoscopy couple months back. The pineapple flavour wasnt to bad. The increased speed to the throne as time progresses is no laughing matter. Wife thought it was very funny though!! Gonna keep her anyways.

Pineapple? Didn't have that when I had to buy mine. Found the easiest way after finishing 3/4's of the "what the hell" liquid and making the rest of it easier to down was equip myself with a bottle of juice for the odd sip here and there, grab a book and squat you know where.

I was the same way….but I needed one. Found a specialist in Edmonton and that’s all he does. It was less painful than a filling. Have had about 5 now. He truly is amazing.

Have had several….1 visit in and out. Not sure why it would be 2 or 3.Noisy Boater wrote: ↑Oct 9th, 2021, 7:57 pm Had at least 3 root canals over the years but all were eventually pulled cause they are a dead tooth.
