why did eating in a restaurant become so dangerous ?? and please do not reply with usual, oh but there's a higher transmission rate in a restaurant than in a grocery store that has thousands of people in it daily and has longer opening hrs than a restaurant does cause that sounds as dumb as it can get..
As a vaccinated person, I have a right to be able to feel safe when entering any public place, business, school, fire hall, store, supermarket. Anti vaxxers have no right to put me at risk. Lock down the unvaccinated until our hospitals have space to treat heart and cance patients and those who are injured etc.

The question becomes more about the "duration" of exposure. In a grocery store situation, the duration could be as little as one breath (less than 1 minute), in a restaurant situation, exposure could be in excess of 2 hours. Night clubs are more than that.
~~~ One infected person, in a crowded night club could EASILY be in close proximity to 200 people in 2 hours.
That may be an over over-exaggeration of the number of shoppers in a store in one day. How many are in that store at any one time ? (In Walmart, maybe 100 ?), compared to the shear size of the floorspace .....and that is social distancing at it's finest.
A comparison of those circumstances,
That comment is of two parts.
We can't "Lock down the unvaccinated". Unfortunately, that is unconstitutional and unenforceable, although I agree and would like that to happen as well.
I doubt that we will feel completely safe in all locations for at least Dec, 2022, and only IF this virus has become eradicated for months before. All we can do is take all precautions that we can to protect ourselves. Some may be easy, others are not.
The easy ones are:
Get vaccinated.
Stay away from situations that are precarious to our health, to reduce our risk of exposure.
~~Go shopping with a list of "must haves".
~~~Must have food.
~~~~Go once a week, plan ahead, shop by on-line flyers, go at low volume hours, get what you need, and get out.
DON"T
~~Wander isles or go mindless browsing.
The hard ones are:
~Avoiding a hospital if injured.
~Avoiding work/employment/school.
Most, if not all, necessary exposure can be limited by planning. For those that have taken the first steps in becoming vaccinated, that is just the 1st step to self preservation and protection for your family and loved ones.
Take the 2nd step and all the steps after that to get through this. I will see you at the end of the dark tunnel.
Don't worry about all those unvaccinated, dead, bodies in that tunnel that you have to step over, it's too late for them.
again your vaccinated, so what other people do is non of your concern
What other people do would not be of concern, If they would stay out of the hospital/ICUs. But if they are there, and it was avoidable with a simple vaccine, then it does become a concern for anyone who thinks the hospital should be there for ALL the people who might need it, who can't avoid it with such a simple treatment.
The increased cost to the health care system alone is of concern to all of us. Treating people in hospital or ICU for days/weeks when a $15 vaccine would have kept them out?
Canada hospitalized over 87,000 patients with covid. The vast majority were unvaccinated (some had no choice I'm sure). But according to the stats, about 80-90% could have avoided a hospital stay, or greatly reduced their days of treatment, if they had had a vaccine.
So on one hand, the statement is made:
"so what other people do is non of your concern".
BUT
On the other hand, the statement is made, " i feel sorry for you people".
Since when does "your feelings" become any concern of others?
I did read your links and the reasons for the distrust of big Pharma. Rightfully so. Mistakes have been made and they have paid big time for them. I could counter with the amount of vaccinated vs non vaccinated who acquired and /or died of covid, but you've seen that before. No point repeating ad nauseam.
The "you people" really shows the divide, and that is sad. Hard to convince people of the covid threat when they can't see the truth.
You're confusing big Pharma with science and medicine. Thats the diff. Two separate entities. Kinda like church and state.
There are divisions everywhere and it is sad that people are so entrenched in their own perceptions that the truth eludes us all.
And if I am one of the very very few people who cannot be vaccinated, or if I am having chemo therapy which makes the vaccine very weak, or if I have a small child or baby why do you think you have the right to risk my live or the lives of little kids?
Intelligent and caring people already know this, it does not take much honest research to figure it out.
Easy way to fix all the people who are upset with people clogging up the ICU beds. Let's make hospitals private and pay your own way. Remove forced coercion vaccination to work and play. Then people can pay for their own health, no more whining from the vaccinated crowd.
Why does anyone deserve free healthcare anyway. Those who use the most are smokers overweight, etc. They should pay from their own bad choices and stop clogging up the system.
If you are fat and vaccinated demanding others take the vaccine, you're a hypocrite.
btw Canada doesn’t have free healthcare, large amount of taxes including income tax goes to fund our health system.
So, my wife spent most of last year and part of this year in VGH. A form of cancer only treatable there, with a healthy past, and no other prior history of note. She was told, that her treatment in the USA would cost about $1 million, and I would have to put that money up front. Over the years I have met many Americans with sad stories about losing one's home and living in a trailer to pay for medical expenses.
This has left her immunocompromised, and although we are fully vaxed (her x3) we still avoid crowds, and time our shopping for the slow hours. To think of the US health care system is abhorrent.
Our health system should be there for people who have a health crisis.
How about a dual system, where people can sign up for our current system, and agree to take basic health care steps, good diet, not smoking, taking vaccines when able to. and in turn the system will be there to the best of its ability. Heck they might even get a rebate for "good health behavior". Not necessarily for outcomes, because sometimes people can do everything right and still have a health crisis.
Alternative is those who avoid whatever preventative measures are proscribed: want to smoke, drink excessively, perhaps take street drugs, don't vaccinate, whatever. And let those people pay a higher premium, or a private system. In turn the system will be there to the best of its ability.
