It's not cherry picking to show all datasets in one graph.

Rex kills it here and is totally right. Enough with these fear-mongering climate conferences, where the global elite get to assemble every year, including our own complete idiot of a PM and a giant entourage of Canadian idiots like Elizabeth May and former Climate Einstein Catherine McKenna. Enough already. It's just disgusting, and horribly stupid to watch this go down every year:
Rex Murphy: We need a goal of net-zero climate conferences by 2030

Lorrie Goldstein — sage columnist and editor emeritus of the Toronto Sun — is among the first to call for an end to the gigantic, carbon-spewing gatherings of tech tycoons, decaying aristocrats, current and former heads of state, louche Hollywood prattlers and green fanatics, known as the Conference of the Parties, which, for 26 consecutive years, have tormented the sanity of the world. With immensely refreshing directness, the lede sentence of his latest column says what needs to be said: “It’s time to put the United Nations’ annual global gabfest on climate change out of its misery and ours.”

Now that he has rung this particular bell, it is up to the rest of us in his tribe, his fellow-laptop tribunes, to take us his call.

The Conference of the Parties is a dangerous and potentially fatal weight upon the world’s patience. Any gathering that brings Prince Charles, Bill Gates, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Justin Trudeau, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bill McKibben, Catherine McKenna and Elizabeth May into the same venue and pretends not only to listen to what they say, but makes an equal show of pretending to know what they are talking about, presents a devastating trial on the nerves of the entire population of the world.

There have been 26 of them so far throughout the world, putting immense strain on the local infrastructure, crowding air lanes with fleets of private jets, stuffing the luxury hotels, displacing citizens from their residences and generally imposing great strains on the tolerance and tranquilly of the local populations.

Though Goldstein has not explicitly called on the world to start a movement — some vast global resistance to these extravagant, ostentatious, prideful climate festivals — it is nevertheless up to us to take his cue. He has sounded the alarm. We lesser fry in the turbid waters of column construction must take up the cause and burn our laptops with urgent calls to put an end, once and for all, to these events, before the world explodes in boredom and weariness at these useless, swollen displays from the world’s most annoying environmentalist peacocks.

“Down with COP!” must be our rallying cry. We are done with your crazy speeches, your constant wailing about the end of the world, your slobbering over Greta Thunberg (even though she stayed outside this time). We are tired of Al Gore hauling himself out of whatever crypt he’s been occupying, of the posing dilettantes of Hollywood and those tedious climate “experts” with their tree-ring fetishes and insuperably dull PowerPoint presentations on the inevitable Armageddon if Bermuda doesn’t build windmills or Rhode Island doesn’t close down its coal plants.

SNIP

Millions may expire from pure ennui and overwhelming tedium. So let the cry go out: “Net-zero COP by 2030!”

All that remains is to thank the gentlemanly Lorrie Goldstein for his leadership and his iron resolve to protect the world from these horrific — I cannot better his term — “gabfests.”

Joe Oliver: How much green pain will Canadians tolerate?

COP26, supposedly humanity’s “last best chance,” struggled to yield even faint hope of keeping temperatures from rising 2 C, let alone 1.5 C. Even so, egged on by catastrophists and the mainstream media, Canadian politicians are adopting increasingly damaging climate policies. Should we be surprised that Canada’s delegation to COP26 was the world’s largest? Surprised, not so much. Appalled, definitely.

So far, our politicians still seem to be supported by a public they have bombarded with dire warnings about an existential climate emergency, while dishonestly downplaying the costs of mitigation and ignoring the reality that Canada is too small a global emitter, at 1.53 per cent of the world total, to achieve anything measurable. Moreover, at least one of their hugely expensive initiatives is actually environmentally counter-productive: the missed opportunity to export oil and gas to Asia to substitute for higher-emitting coal.

Prime Minister Trudeau and many premiers will not have the intellectual honesty to concede their policies are ineffectual and will reduce our standard of living and endanger our security and national unity. Candour would produce a political backlash that would undermine public support for green initiatives and imperil their own political survival. So instead we are treated to shameless misrepresentation and mindless self-harm.

Quebec Premier François Legault recently announced he will block further exploitation and development of fossil fuels in the province, which at COP26 joined the Denmark- and Costa Rica-led BOGA (Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance). According to the Montreal Economic Institute, the opportunity cost of abandoning Quebec’s hydrocarbon resources would be over 9,000 jobs, $93 billion in wealth and $15 billion in funding to the government. Meanwhile, the province is importing some 300,000 barrels of oil per day and spending $5 billion annually for Alberta and U.S. energy. Oil and gas make up over 80 per cent of its trade deficit.

Should we be surprised that Canada’s delegation to COP26 was the world’s largest?

If this is true, our idiot government should be hanging their heads in shame. What a shameful waste of taxpayer funds, on something so mind-numbingly stupid. A thorough waste of our national resources. Wasting $600 million on an election no one wanted to accomplish nothing, and now this shameful waste. Our current government just plain sucks.

And like clockwork, of course we have the junk scientists somehow finding ways to blame the fake boogeyman of man-made climate change for the rain BC just received. Of course. Can't let anything bad go to waste.
Scientists say climate change is likely playing a role in this week's catastrophic flooding in British Columbia.

Highways are blocked and communities have been evacuated after bucketing rain caused mudslides in several parts of the province.

Francis Zwiers at the University of Victoria says it's too early to know the extent to which climate change contributed to the disasters.

But he says such events are being made more common and more intense as the climate warms.

A 2019 report from the B.C. government says the province was at medium risk from extreme rain, river flooding and landslides — all of which have occurred this week.

Science is getting better at figuring out what contributions climate change is making to extreme weather, concluding that last summer's record-breaking heat dome would have been impossible without climate change.
I did like the last sentence - "science is getting better at figuring out what contributions something that doesn't exist is making to "extreme weather". Yeah sure they are getting "better", all it takes is saying "MANMADE CLIMATE CHANGE CAUSED IT" and the gullible and the stupid just clap along like trained seals.

foenix wrote: Nov 16th, 2021, 5:03 am I guess it all depends on the cherry picked data......
The myth of no warming since 1998 was based on the satellite record estimates of the temperature of the atmosphere. However, as discussed in the video below by Peter Sinclair, even that argument is no longer accurate. The satellites show warming since 1998 too.

There's also a tendency for some people just to concentrate on atmospheric or surface air temperatures when there are other, more useful, indicators that can give us a better idea how rapidly the world is warming. More than 90% of global warming heat goes into warming the oceans, while less than 3% goes into increasing the atmospheric and surface air temperature. Records show that the Earth has been warming at a steady rate before and since 1998 and there is no sign of it slowing any time soon.

Even if we focus exclusively on global surface temperatures, Cowtan & Way (2013) shows that when we account for temperatures across the entire globe (including the Arctic, which is the part of the planet warming fastest), the global surface warming trend for 1997–2015 is approximately 0.14°C per decade.

UAH6 is satellite data. No warming for 7 years. More accurate than ever modified GISS.

Some people think if we measure ocean heat content in Zetajoules we can scare and confuse the masses.

The first problem measuring ocean heat is that there are only a few thousand Argo Buoys with limited accurate/precision. Not enough to get an accurate world-wide ocean measurement just based on coverage.

Secondly, the buoys only descend to a modest depth. Most of the ocean is 5km deep, while the few buoys that exist only descend to only 2km. This means you're not measuring who heat content of the whole ocean.

Thirdly, zetajoules translate in to a very tiny temperature equivalent. This is extremely difficult to measure. "Since 2004 (to 2021), for instance, ARGO data shows an increase of about one hundredth of a degree."

Fourthly, 70% of the planet is Ocean and exposed to sunlight. Sunlight and clouds are the major contributor to ocean cooling or heating, not you. Also, specific areas of Ocean have most of the warming, it is not homogenous like CO2.

Fifthly, ocean temperatures have been rising since the early 1900's before CO2 was a problem, so how can the issue be CO2? Also from 1940 to 1980 ocean temperatures fell. From 1910 to 1940, ocean warming happened at the same rate as 1980 onward despite higher CO2 levels. Ocean temperatures affect atmospheric temperatures, and not vice versa. We can easily see this every time there is an El Nino or La Nina.
Galileo - In the sciences, the authority of thousands of opinions is not worth as much as one tiny spark of reason from an individual man.

What's that graph all about? It appears to be somewhat lacking in information.
Are you referring to delegates who attended what?

How about this one. Canada is back, with Justin introducing himself to the world with 300 hangers-on in 2015.
just elected and already blowing millions, as well as spewing out millions of tons of carbon flying all his buddies to Paris.
Or did they take Greta's sailboat?

Canada has one of the largest teams at the Paris climate change conference, with more than 300 politicians, government staff and bureaucrats in attendance.

That’s more than double the U.S. team, which includes fewer than 150 officials, and about triple the U.K.’s team of about 100 attendees, according to United Nations figures.

This is a thread about climate, not the Liberals and Justin Trudeau, so no, let's leave the foolish Justin who can't get anything right out of this thread.

I'm pessimistic that people who aren't qualified to understand the science think they know better than those who have actually researched it. They have educations and actual labs. And review each other's findings. Not one person here is qualified to analyze this on that level. I'm pessimistic that the public thinks they can "do their own research" and qualify it as equal to those who actually KNOW what they're talking about.

And I'm pessimistic that those who claim to be qualified to research man-made climate change will ever have any of their predictions come true, ever. They've been consistently wrong for decades now. At some point, even the most gullible who want to believe in fairy tales will have to admit that the sky isn't falling, and that this whole unproven hypothesis was never the bogeyman many claimed it to be. But by now, so much money has changed hands and fallen into fat pockets of true shysters, that this scam has to continue to be perpetuated, and it will be, as it seems that there's a sucker born every minute.
