Restaurants created a monster
Restaurants created a monster by emphasizing to-go and online orders during the pandemic, and now they can't control it

Restaurant chains are starting to grapple with the growing demand for to-go orders.
Workers have been saying things were untenable since early in the pandemic.
Americans are consuming much more food than before the pandemic, data shows.

Restaurants CAN control it. It's called saying "no."
No restaurant wants to say "no, we can't process all these orders so we have to start limiting what we take in." But in not saying "no" they are creating a new monster, a google review monster.
I envision a restaurant with no seating, just giant kitchens, for JUST take out and delivery. But having to admit limitations on what they can say "yes" to.

Regardless of who "wins" an election, they always are up against a Silent Elite. Do you believe the extreme poor who voted for Trump ever thought their non-profit support would be slashed right out from under them?

Yup, thats a serious problem KH. How about the restaurant just pay their employees more.

You don't have to envision them, they already exist all over the place. They are called ghost kitchens. Only deliveries, only cooking. All deliveries done through SkipTheDishes type of apps. No need for waitresses, no need to cashiers, no need for tips, no need for delivery drivers.
Only cooks, and perhaps an administrator. A lease can be very cheap because nobody cares about the location, and since there's no seating - it can be tiny. You can literally run it out of your garage if you have equipment.

Fair enough. I still say whomeever is taking the order has to be honest about time line and delivery time.
The word "no" is hated, I know .

Re: Restaurants created a monster
more and more ghost kitchens here in Kelowna. The prices of course were raised before the floods to cover the cost of using a service like Skip
Even fast food places are moving to take out /delivery only mode
Skip has really improved here and I'm happy, just wish more places to deliver to here
schedule the time, then you can track

When I order takeout I pick it up myself, in the last year I may have had Chinese takeout once or twice.
Not a big takeout or for a matter fact dine-in person (except dining in at home).

Tough to find decent Chinese take out in Kelowna. Have tried 4-5 different places in the last year and never impressed me much!
Reminds me of a song. lol
If the Earth was really flat all the cats would have pushed everything off the edge by now!

The 2 I like are both in WK:
1) MeiWei
2) Golden Chopstick
Since I usually don’t feel like driving so far I’ve learned to settle for either J-Wok or Chan Fortune, I keep it rather simple for these 2 places.
With Chinese fried Rice & Curry Chicken with veggies. Very hard to up these 2 items.
