I saw Chappelle's take on Jussie. It is hilarious of course, and true! Funny the sort of things Hollywood breeds. This has parallels to Baldwin and Democrats in general where there will never be an admission of guilt but rather they still blame others for what they did to the end.

Can't imagine what the sentencing will be. He committed felonies but will be serve jail time? Polls overwhelmingly indicate that is what people think he deserves. His actions served to further divide a country for personal gain. This is not the sort of thing taken lightly these days. My guess is he'll get 6 months in prison or serve a few years in house arrest.

Don Lemon brands pal Jussie Smollet a liar

Don Lemon branded his pal Jussie Smollett a liar just hours after the actor was convicted of staging a hate crime against himself on Thursday — but the CNN host still failed to address his own role in the made-for-TV drama.

Lemon discussed the “Empire” star’s guilty verdict on his show Thursday night during a brief segment with legal analyst Joey Jackson.

The CNN host said Smollett “had to make up too many lies” in an attempt to explain his false narrative that two Trump-loving bigots beat him up and tied a noose around his neck in Chicago in 2019.

“I guess he got caught up in that because he took the stand himself. He got angry with the prosecutor as the prosecutor poked holes in his story, calling the only other witnesses liars,” Lemon said of the high-profile trial.

Lemon went on to say Smollett had potentially made it harder for “legitimate victims of hate crimes” to be taken seriously.

CHICAGO — Jussie Smollett left the Leighton Criminal Court building Thursday looking as stoic and defiant as ever, despite being found guilty of staging a fake hate crime three years ago.

When Smollett is sentenced next month, prosecutors said they plan to emphasize his bizarre turn on the witness stand, in which he lied for “hours and hours and hours” about how two Trump-loving bigots beat him up, tied a noose around his neck and doused him in bleach.

But far from showing remorse that might sway the judge in his favor, Smollett, 39, has continued to dig in his heels and told his attorneys to appeal the verdict.

Experts say that stubbornness is among the textbook signs of narcissistic personality disorder that Smollett seems to exhibit — and which may have been exacerbated by growing up in an unusual family bubble.

Jussie Smollett will get a few months of jail time, maybe, and in a year or two he'll be back in movies and on TV shows, and all will be forgotten, despite all of the massive damage that scumbag did.

Jussie Smollett juror: Split decision was ‘favor’ to actor after debate over final count

The jury in Jussie Smollett’s trial felt they were doing him “a favor” when they convicted the former “Empire” actor on five counts of disorderly conduct, but not a sixth, one of the jurors told the Sun-Times Friday.

The decision was one the jury struggled with, the juror said.

In the end, “we all thought we were doing Jussie a favor,” said the juror, who asked not to be named.

That count charged the actor with lying to police during a second interview with detectives on Feb. 14 when he reported he was the victim of an aggravated battery. The other five counts of disorderly conduct Smollett was convicted of were for reporting a battery and for reporting a hate crime to other officers in the hours after the attack.

Essentially, the jurors got hung up on the reasoning behind the last charge and why it was charged differently than the others.

“We were told it was an aggravated battery because he said they were wearing a mask,” the juror said. But “in all [of Smollett’s] accounts of what happened, he mentioned a mask.”

If prosecutors had charged all the battery counts the same, “I think we probably would have found him guilty” on all six, she said.

Black juror: Smollett's reaction to noose makes no sense

CHICAGO (AP) — The only Black juror on the panel that convicted Jussie Smollett of lying to Chicago police said he couldn't get past what the actor did not do after he claimed attackers looped a noose around his neck: Rip it off and keep it off.

If others saw the noose as Smollett's clumsy effort to portray his attackers as racist, Andre Hope saw much more.

“As an African American person, I'm not putting that noose back on at all, " Andre Hope told WLS-TV. At trial, Smollett testified that after the attack in downtown Chicago in January 2019, he returned home and put the rope back around his neck so police who came to his apartment soon after could see it.

Hope was not the only Black person who struggled with Smollett's use of such a potent symbol of racism in the U.S. to convince authorities he was the victim of a hate crime.

In an interview with NewsNation Now after Smollett was found guilty last Thursday, Eddie Johnson — who was Chicago police superintendent in January 2019 when Smollett said he was attacked — said virtually the same thing.

“I was concerned because I don’t think there’s many Black people in America with a noose around their neck and wouldn’t immediately take it off,” Johnson said.

Hope said the evidence against Smollett was overwhelming. At trial, two brothers testified that Smollett recruited them to carry out the fake attack. Hope said the counter narrative put forth by Smollett's attorneys that the pair had actually planned the attack on Smollett did not make sense.
