Re: Divorce Lawyer
^^^ best thing to do is stay in a physical or emotional abusive marriage (or unhappy marriage), which shows the kids how to treat their future spouse.
Yep nepal great idea... NOT

I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests. I am an old cantankerousness grump that happens to be very opinionated.

Exactly ! Right ?!?
Leave if you have to. The kids deserve better than two people in an abussive marriage.
Such a religious point of view, imo. Drove me crazy religious views on MY marriage.
Don’t get Bill Clarke. He’s horrible and will cause constant chaos and turn the whole family to hate each other.
He’s disgusting, IMO, and should have his licence pulled.

That's how they make money. They intentionally keep the fight going.
That's why there should be no 'family law'. Only a fair division of assets acquired as per contribution and split of child care costs 50/50 as well as custody. Were all equal....so no one should need alimony...right?

Some may view my politically incorrect opinions as harsh and may be offended by them. Some think political correctness will be our undoing.

Re: Divorce Lawyer
What I find interesting is the increase in divorce appraisal requests (I work in a house/land appraisal firm) we get and when we get them. Halfway through 2020, spike. And then there is the usual spike that happens in January (post-Christmas) and September (kids back in school). We went from something like 1 every 2 or three months to 4 a month in a spike period.
We deal with a number of firms - we generally get requests from Pushor Mitchell, Porter Ramsay, FH&P, Courtyard Law, Farris, Smith Peacock, Connect Family Law, Maclean Law, Fletcher King Law Corp, Rush Ihas Hardwick. I may have missed a few :/ Plus single lawyer firms and firms from Vancouver. I couldn't tell you which ones were the best, though.

Considering he believes in domestic violence himself, and has been charged with it …

Re: Divorce Lawyer
No names, just an informed observation.....
Don't be fooled. Lawyers are there to assist litigants, BUT, in many cases lawyers put on a show for their clients. "My lawyer is a real bear cat, they will make my ex's life miserable"
If you've ever sat in a court room and listened to trials you will see the variety of lawyer personalities. Not just in matrimonial cases, but in all trial situations. A lawyer will "go at a crown witness" putting on a good show, likely not affecting the outcome.
The competent well prepared lawyer, that doesn't put on the show could be the one to save your bacon.
I know of two lawyers, one fiery, lots of "paper", right out of the starting blocks, liens the family home, demands this, demands that. The other quiet well prepared, confident. In the case I know about I saw the case unfold from the perspective of the quiet well prepared lawyer. The results were fair and equitable.
I knew someone else who had retained the fiery lawyer (I learned later). They were charged heavily, lots of overkill that of course was billed to the client. But a good show in court, lots of fire and brimstone, basically an equitable result.
Oh,,, and now you can't retain the competent well prepared lawyer.... She's a provincial court judge.
The fiery one... still selling her shtick.
Likely anyone well versed in Kelowna lawyers will have identified each.

Re: Divorce Lawyer
Before making a rash lives altering decision, give this video a watch. How could the relationship have been handled differently to avoid permanently negatively impacting the lives of kids:
This is an example of what some kids of divorced parents are subjected to. So unfair and debilitating for kids. If only the parents had made different life decisions.
Divorce may be the easy way out for parents, but creates a complex lifetime struggle for their kids.
.
When you bring kids into this world, it’s not about you anymore.
Saying divorce “is best for the kids” is sometimes a narcissistic cop-out.
Parents, get a grip, and make your family a success.
Thank you to this family for making this heart-tugging video available, as it may help some other families find a way to make their family whole and avert such difficulties. Parker, you are a good fellow, and can learn from your parent’s mistakes.

A narcissist cop out? Are you serious.??? You’d rather abussive people stay together?nepal wrote: ↑Dec 27th, 2021, 7:26 am Before making a rash lives altering decision, give this video a watch. Wife beater? Drug and alcoholic abuse? How unbelievably ignorant of you to assume the kids would
enjoy this better. Wow. The worst advice I have ever read

The_quiet_one.
I agree with you, that in extreme cases such as “Wife beater? Drug and alcoholic abuse”, etc, that divorce is the obvious solution. I’ve now corrected my statement by adding ‘sometimes’. The thing is that a large percentage are lifestyle cases or temporary circumstances, that are inflamed by some lawyers to create more revenue.
The point is to look for positive solutions that have a better long term outcome for all affected. Lawyers might not be a good route for making things better for a family. There are alternatives.

I disagree. The lawyer was disgusting, and no professionalism ever.
Glad you know good ones
