speaking of chess - I worked with a guy who was easy to best, so he started to play on line to improve. Found someone to play against, at least they were about 50 - 50 re games. Finally Roger asks to meet in person - his opponent says " can't my Mom won't let me, I am only 12"

Talking for weeks? Nah, you need to pounce on people faster than that. Make the first move or hint at the guy making the first move. The longer it takes to move from online to offline, the more chances to be disappointed by realizing how different the person actually is from the image you've built up around the name from the weeks and weeks of daydreaming about the guy. Or gal, I don't judge.

A quick conversation, another one, another one, followed by "hey, let's meet for coffee". And then go from there. At least you'll know right away where you stand. Unless you want a pen pal, in which case sure, why not.

You just haven't met the right one yet ....thats all. Give it a chance....you just singed up on the site. And like I and evensteven said...meet asap, then no one has a chance to paint a picture based on personal desires. And like norma said.... it aint real unless its in person.

I was just thinking about this the other day....-my own shelf life. I think men, generally have a shelf life of max 50. Women 40 ish. In general women are in charge of the mating game when they are young, but as that sexual power leaves them as they age , it's almost as if it goes the other way-that men get the sexual power for a while and then poof...shows over. But in some circumstances- as long as the man can keep his V shape and no belly and as long as she can keep a smaller waist to hip ratio...the game goes on...

It's weird....there is no way a young man will be in a hurry to jump into bed with a woman thats 25 years older than him, but I've noticed that there are young women that are interested in jumping into bed with a man thats 25 years older than her. Money aside, why is that? Maybe its evolutionary.

Okay...you never heard his voice. Could be a teenager like Norma said. If you offered your number and a chance to chat for real but he doesn't bite after keyboarding for a few days then something is probably up. Did he offer to talk or meet ?

He said he wanted to, but was very busy. Maybe I’m just really gullible. You’d think I’d be wiser.
He was so very nice. It would be nice to know what happened, but I don’t think I’ll ever know.

OT, I disagree re the young guys/older women... and I speak from experience :)
None of my young female friends was to be with a man who is more than 5 yrs older than they are... makes me creak lol
