Given the rules regarding division of assests, child support, etc, plus the mediation process, you will just be spending a lot of money by "leaving no stone unturned". The "best" lawyer will recognize that and seek to provide you with a divorce and a fair settlement and not take advantage of your mental distress/anger, need for revenge or whatever is going on for you. In a "nasty" divorce, no one wins and the lawyers benefit the most.
That is likely the best advice I've seen. I tried with my ex and when you are both paying over $200.00 a hour, guess who comes out the winner!!

YES the lawyer, some are bottom feeders!! Argue over $500.00 when they are getting paid $250.00 hr.

So true. My ex’s lawyer shouldn’t even be able to practice family law, as his own wife charged him with abuse, he was reported to the las society and got a slap on the wrist for domestic violence. Disgusting. He took it personally against me, (lawyer) and warned many times in court to knock it off.

I know a few great divorce Lawyers, but again there is money to be made on people's angst.
I disagree. The lawyer was disgusting, and no professionalism ever.
Glad you know good ones👍
You are joking arn't you???

A good lawyer who deals in divorce court??

He'd starve if all they received was $2,000.00 per divorce.

Do you (meant in the royal sense) know why divorce is so expensive?

It's all backwards.

We should make getting married expensive and a divorce cheap.

People need to realize it’s basically 50/50. No one should get more than the other.
Don’t split the kids, even if you hate you spouse, the kids still need both parents. Slimy lawyers should be bared.
People need to grow up, and move on.

The part I feel that bites is, I may own a home. She moves in after married and she is later entitled to 50%.

Why, that is just not right.

Then toss in those who are gay and think well I'll get married as I'm unsure.

Isn't that entering into a contract which marriage is, and doing so under falsehood and deceit?

If you bought into a company, the Judge would agree if you falsely represented your self and your interests!

I'm certain matrimonial property is 50/50....I'll check.

Pensions, they do a evaluation on contribution and growth while cohabitating.

You are correct....if home was acquired prior to.

I agree with OT. Anything acquired after 6 months of cohabitation becomes communal property, as both have contributed to it's purchase.
